Please forgive my trivial question but I have never flown Virgin before.

I now know that I can request seats at 90 days.

I recently read on the forum that because a passenger had not done online check, I think they managed to do so a few hours before departure their preferred seats had been reallocated. How early/late can you do online check in, hoping to keep requested seats?

Flight will be LAX-LHR[Arriving in LA on a cruise]

Thank you in advance
Susan

On Line Check In opens 24 hours before departure.

And if you haven't done it by 2 hours before the flight, you lose the seats.

If you're talking about the post I think you are, the poster DID do OLCI the night before their flight but lost the seats anyway. While annoying, this can happen if - for instance - the airline needs to seat a large group together. Virgin never guarantee a seat request, and neither do BA despite charging for the privilege.

Where you have pre-assigned a seat online, check in needs to be completed no later than 2 hours before departure time to enable us to honour this request. The exception are flights out of London Heathrow, when check in must be completed 13 hours prior to departure to retain pre-assigned seats.
