Miles Puzzle

Ok, so I have seen how good some of you guys at advising on use of air miles. I always used to use my air miles with BMI to Tblisi (25,000 return for Business) and £100 in tax, which was a bargain as the flights were well over £2k. As BMI days are gone, and I just can't navigate my way through the various options and different fares I thought I'd ask for help... please...

So

1) I have 100k exactly
2) GF has 20k
3) We have a companion flight as well as two PE upgrades (we both have VA Amex's)

We'd be happy to do PE on the return if it would save a lot of ££, but love the clubhouse and drive through checkin too much to miss out on UC on the way out.

We are probably going to be looking at a March/April 2014 departure, somewhere hot (probably Dubai) so any tips on the best time to get tickets and routes which offer good value on upgrades etc!

There are a fair few options with this depending on if you want to save some miles for another day, how much you are willing to spend etc... This I can tell you though - companion ticket is useless (economically speaking) for your purposes as are the ECO - PE reward upgrade vouchers I'm afraid.

Dubai your final choice?

If so, the cheapest out of the gate will be 2 'M' fare economy class upgraded to UC both ways with 80K miles total. |:)

Great thanks that is very helpful. Yes I know they are useless from my failed attempts to use them, often they would work out more expensive (especially given the rates virgin holidays get on PE).

Dubai probably, or Barbados...

Not fussed about saving air miles, its all about keeping the ££ down
