Yes perfectly terrible.

Even worse than the Observer piece on the BA CWLCY piece at the weekend.

And then she dug herself into an even bigger hole in one of her two responses by saying the title wasn't meant to be sensationalist and again blaming BA for not making the time clear enough !

Wow! Ridiculous.

American I presume? Although after 3 years in the "cloudy" UK you'd think she'd have grasped the concept of the 24 hour clock that we wacky Brits tend to use. Not to mention the concept of a train timetable that would have yielded the astonishing fact that there are, in fact, trains 24 hours a day from Gatwick.

It's not really journalism given that it's Flyertalk. It's someone who purports to be cabin crew for BA who can't read airline timetables ?|

Having said that, some US airlines use the AM/PM format but that's no excuse for someone who says she works for BA and should be used to the EU/UK/Rest of the world format. I mean, who else uses "military time"? I've never heard of it before ?|

It seems it is a term used in the US and a number of other countries for the 24 hr clock.

Erm, have I got this right? She booked the flights in the first place, so read the time on the booking and thus opting to take that flight as opposed to others offered during the day. Proceeding to ignore said time, turn up 12 hours late for the flight and expect BA to be waiting for them. Following all that nonsense with claims there is no cost effective way to get home from LGW at 3am, especially given no advanced notice and the completely surprise arrival of her flight at the scheduled and booked time ?| ?| ?|

She is American and works for a US airline and not BA (great for her career if she did as she is basically saying that her own employer scammed her!)

She also commented that flights at 1.30 AM are unusual. But flights take off and land at all times of the day - even in the US. Doesn't the VS flight from Mumbai take off at 3.00 AM?

The lesson here is to check your departure and arrival times and don't assume - and assume is what she did and made a complete ass of her self.

Not sure what is worse that she turned up 12 hours late or that she put it online that she did (and insists that BA should have done more to warn her!)

Tonty,I admit I didn't read to the very end in deference to my blood pressure, but given the posts at the beginning of the thread, the only indication she gives that she might possibility be American is that she quotes the fare in USD. Having said that, Alicante to London would have one thinking that she does indeed work for BA - and I'm afraid we forget about the AA alliance. Nonetheless it does not excuse her ineptitude and her ignorance of the 24 hour clock :0

Who uses military time...er me actually, (SEQ 1 Y class in a Martin Baker Mk10 exit seat usually). I think the author of the article would be even more thrown if she had to juggle the the concept of Zulu, Local, Alpha and BST times, but hey, it's given us all a giggle!

I wish I could find it so I could quote verbatim, but I was flicking through the Virgin Holidays' Caribbean brochure the other day and in the description of one of the hotels, it said:

"Complimentary daily newspaper AND the Daily Mail".

Well it amused me...

I do actually have some sympathy with the original poster - I would never have imagined that BA (or any other "traditional" carrier in Europe) would have a short haul flight at that time.

One of the loco's - possibly, and one of the holiday airlines - quite likely.

But I like to think I wouldn't confuse 01:30 and 13:30, but as has been pointed out if the poster is from the US, then they may well not be used to the 24 hour clock - after all, their flight & train timetables are 1:30a and 1:30p for example.

But I don't think I would like to advertise my stupidity to the world like this!
