Nope, just leave it alone.

The 5 of us travelled again this year the only one who had to re-do the ESTA was my wife as she had a new passport. For the rest I checked they were still valid on the website but didn't make any changes.

It is recommended that you update details but not compulsory.

As long as your APIS is correct they will track you down if they want you !

In my opinion you really should update your ESTA with the correct info as to where you are staying this trip and more importantly which state you will be arriving into and how you are arriving..

Technically it is compulsory, isn't it Tonty? Enforced on the other hand... 50/50...

Personally unless you fancy a possible round of secondary screening while they 'figure out the mistake' it is recommended they know where you are arriving into and where you are staying/what you are doing etc.. Know this from experience unfortunately n(

From your experiences Neil, guess you have been lucky or I have been unlucky.. one or the other... Let's have a look :? :?

Ok, according to this page from CPB, it is not mandatory to update ESTA info each and every time you travel or if plans change last minute. I guess I was unlucky.. still didnt help them droning on about why I wasn't in Nebraska though ;)

It's neither compulsory to update it nor in fact to input anything into those fields when you apply for your ESTA.

I am staying in exactly the same place, looked on official site and it said I can amend carrier ( same ) passport number ( same ). Didn't mention new dates or new trips within the 2 year period.

You cannot amend your passport number.

It is not mandatory to change or update your travel dates, flight information or destination information on the ESTA application. The travel information is optional, and you can leave it blank. If you put in a date and time, and then your plans change, we ask you to correct the information, but you are not required to. Changing your travel plans will not affect your authorization to travel.

You cannot use the update function to make a change on your passport or biometric information. Biometric information consists of your name, passport number, country of citizenship, and your date of birth.

A new passport requires a new ESTA just as a new ESTA is needed when your existing ESTA expires.

No. A new passport means a new Esta. My Esta ran out earlier this year but I didn't re-apply till just now as I needed to renew my passport.
