Car turned up at 6.15 am and we set off for T3.
Check in was empty, bags dropped and into the lift for security: this is where my timings went completely awry. I reckoned on 30 mins from check in to CH - took all of 8 minutes.
Did a spot of shopping and still arrived at the CH 20 minutes before opening!!
Once in Betty looked after us: delightful lady with a huge smile at that time of the morning ( all names used with permission). Couple of Bloody Mary's - it's 5 o'clock somewher - CH breakfast and Mrs A had the nail treatment re-appearing claiming it was the best 30 quid I had spent in ages.
Ambled down to gate when the flight was called and no delay in boarding. Settled in top 10 and 11 A, chosen on the advice of VFlyer, Mrs A had her bubbles and with 289 on board we left 6 mins early.
4 crew in UC, Nikki, the FSM, Candy, Soumia and Nev: worked the cabin tirelessly with a an unobtrusive charm. Clearly the lead set by Nikki was infused throughout the entire crew. An email to Craig will follow when I get home.
Food was actually quite astonishingly good considering it was an airplane: I had the soup, which I highly recommend, and followed by a tender and perfectly cooked piece of beef. I demurred when offered dessert but did have the cheese and port which was lovely.
Sat at the bar for an hour or so chatting with Candy, Nikki and fellow pax then back to seat for a snooze. Mrs A had tea and sandwiches which were reported as excellent but I was still full from lunch.
Off and through immigration, Dial 7 car waiting and in the Hilton Times Sq exactly 1 hour after touchdown.
First rate flight: looking forward to the return on the 18.
