Hi all,

Just thought I would post on here after this forum has been so much help to me planning this upper class reward flight from LHR to MIA yesterday.

We arrived at the UC lounge a little after 7am. Wow, very impressive. We headed straight for the spa where I requested a shave, and my fiancée got her hair done. Very nice experience. Breakfast was great, as too was the multiple mojitos. The bar man was superb, and very friendly.

We boarded and got ourselves comfortable. First impressions was that the plane was a little grotty and could perhaps do with a better clean. Listening to an American woman complain constantly was a little grinding, however I popped on the earphones supplied and it helped to drown her out. The food on board was excellent, and the salt and pepper shakers were cute ? Ahem ;-)

We landed into MIA and got stuck in a 1hr wait through immigration. Grrrr.

Headline back on the LAX-LHR service in a few weeks. Again UC on this one. I see it is a different layout of aircraft. Anyone know if it is likely to be much the same? More modern?

All in all it was a superb experience - it will be hard to go back to economy. I must look into seeing about the miles booster. Even though it was a reward flight, I think I can still buy the booster miles.

Glad you enjoyed your first UC experience. I assume you were on a 747 to MIA?

Your LAX flight will probably be an A346 - exactly the same UC suite but, IMHO, not as pleasant an atmosphere as the 747.

On the 747 UC is divided into three separate cabins and feels much more exclusive and spacious. On the A346 it's one big cabin and, to me, the service feels less personal.

If you get a window seat in the front right or rear left of the cabin (ie low Ks or high As) at least you're facing a wall and get a bit of privacy, not face-to-face with another passenger. Most V-Flyers seem to prefer 3-6K or 10-15A.

Ha ha, once you turn left and all that... thanks for sharing this experience with us y)

In regards to the booster miles, ISTBC but I always thought that the reward fare classes are not eligible for mileage earning whatsoever... just checked out the T&Cs and whilst ambiguous as usual there are constant references to "qualifying ticket" and "qualifying flight".... I have a feeling this could be used to say no to earning miles in this way on a reward booking.

Please do try it out though and let us know the response... you never know with VS ii)
