We want to visit our son in Saigon next spring. Both the above come out at very similar ( and very good) prices for Business, so is one any better than the other?

QR will be in OneWorld by then, so if you want to earn BA miles and TP's then flying with them is a good call.

EK is better, *as long as you get a new plane*...
Another vote for EK. Flew out to Singapore in J return earlier this year. Free chauffeur service regardless of fare code, spacious seats (albeit quite tacky looking cabin - so much bling!) amazing IFE and good food.
We even had a 6 hour layover in Dubai so that we went to have a few cocktails at the atmosphere bar on the 122nd floor of the burj Kalimantan. EK provided a free limo to and from the burj even though we were checked all the way through to Singapore.
If you go with EK, try and get the A380 out of LHR.
