I have just come back from Tenerife: not on VS obviously, but in the company's 737. Total flight time 8:50. I only mention this as the 18 took 5:52 to cross the Pond.

Anyhow, we set off the day before from MCO on the UA1741 to night stop in the Marriott: handy tips from VFlyer are the dog's :)

What sort of a joke are UA ? First class tickets and no lounge access?...... Are you serious? At least the crew, when they NB'd we were in the same business looked after us, but never again.

I digress : checked out at 5:15, shuttle was at the door and last lap begins. The Marriott really is a great nights top for the 18: comfy beds, quiet, great staff.

Check in was empty and we headed off to security to wait behind the 2 people who had either never flown before or couldn't read the signs: liquids does include your large bottle of water.

CH was open and we were the first in: soon filled up tho. Mrs A had the unpronounceable Egg Skillet which she.announced was terrific. ow that is high praise from someone who isn't keen on spicy food. I went for the simple option, fruit and yoghurt.

Few coffees, read of the the papers and headed to the gate to pick up some DF before boarding. Quickly on board through the scrum and settled in to 9 and 10 A: not keen on the single door loading but if that's all they have man up and live with it.

Here I digress: about 20 years I worked for Manx Airlines. When the lady who ran the payroll retired, the boss re-registered one of the ATPs with her name, G- MAUD. Whilst this may have nothing to do with price of fish, it is a clue for later:-)

Filled up with 15 crew and 253 pax we set off 10 early for LHR.

Beautiful day and great views as we departed south west: considering the forecast winds the trip was pretty smooth. Healthy tailwind pushing us to LHR.

Brisk rise and shine breakfast of a bacon roll with a large scotch: that's the only way to roll........excuse the pun, and lunch served around 2 hours later.

The food was, again, excellent: we had the tomato and lentil soup, beef and gave up on dessert. I had the cheese and can highly recommend the Stilton.

CC always visible in the cabin and plenty of drink refills available.

Watched a dreadful movie: Burt Wonderstone and lapsed in to shock so changed to Michael McIntyre to regain some sanity.

Touched down at LHR at 1930 but had to wait 30 mins for a stand. Quickly through immigration even though an EK A380 and China Eastern 777 had also disgorged their pax.

All in all, excellent trip with great crew again: BZ VS.

Thanks for the TR!

Just a note for US domestin air travel, First Class doesn't give you lounge access on any airline (maybe some transcon flight though?), that's where a priority pass comes in handy!

I'm a fan of the 18 myself and find it easier than the overnight flights when it comes to jetlag
