Hi,

A couple of queries rolled into one post here.

Have just booked PE flights MAN-MCO through Delta for next year. Our tickets are shown as "W" class which I believe is upgradeable to UC. Am I correct in assuming that we could (availability allowing) upgrade one-way for the difference in VA miles (i.e. return PE=70k miles, return UC=100k miles, Return difference=30k miles hence one-way upgrade =15k miles), plus the difference in taxes etc?

Second query relates to VA Flying Club membership. I am a member, but not my wife and daughter. If they were to get membership, in the future can "family" accounts be combined for redemptions, or do they have to be transferred with the associated fees?

Many thanks :)

Hi and welcome,

A FC account is an individual account, so each person had their own account and therefore you wouldn't be able to combine any other family members accounts with yours. Each person earns their own miles and TP's.

With regards to your other query, I'm not fully sure how it works for flights booked through Delta. Firstly any upgrades will have to be done through Delta and be from their reward allocation, then it will depend on what their mileage levels / rules state as to how many miles extra would be and if it is available. W is the fare code abbreviation used to signify PE (like J is Business and Y is economy) so it's worth checking if your fare code is definitely W.
