We're flying to Las Vegas next March, and my wife is treating us to an upgrade to PE. We've flown this route in economy a number of times, so I have a couple of questions about PE.

1) Is it better to sit upstairs or downstairs?
2) Do you always get your choice of meal, or do they run out of certain dishes in the same way they do in economy?
3) Do you get served first upstairs or downstairs, or are there separate staff for each area and you are fed at the same time?
4) Have all of the aircraft been upgraded now?
5) Is the power socket a normal UK type? I'm aware that the wattage is very limited in any case.

Welcome to V-Flyer :)

1) The consensus is the upper deck is better for PE on the 744's.

2) No guarantees of your first choice (in any cabin) sorry.

3) There's separate crew for both decks. The upper deck has it's own galley.

4) Yes.

5) Yes, it's near the floor between the seats, though cannot be used to charge devices.

Thanks! Any tips in general for PE? Best seats? Check in as early as possible or last minute to see if you can bag an upgrade? :D

On my last few flights in PE we have checked in real early ie first and have asked if front row seats are available
We were lucky too:-)

Bubble or downstairs?

Try looking at the seat plan a day or two before OLCI and look at it religiously (in our case, almost hourly). When we went in March this year, we managed to request two seats in the front of the bubble PE the day before OLCI. I appreciate you're near to the toilets but it was great not to have anyone in front of us. :)

Hi DarkAuror,
Would you say the benefit of being at the front outweighs the negative of being near the loo?
We have got seats in the bubble for a Vegas flight & I avoided the front cos of the loos but not being reclined into is also very appealing.....

I prefer seats 24A&C in the bubble last row of PE. No one behind you, and the side bins are great for keeping all your clutter in. It also seems less busy and quieter than down stairs ( even with economy behind you ). This is just my personal preference.

That's good... We have 24 H&K & 23 H&K....24 A&C weren't available to choose . I'll keep a watchful eye & hopefully they will.
Thank you :)

The flight we were on was full and only had one functioning loo in the bubble. It didn't feel like we watched on by the queue, even then the queue was at the most only 2 people waiting.

I would go downstairs in row 19 simply because you'll likely be the first people off the aircraft in LAS, minimising immigration wait time.
