Looking for some expert advice.

Getting cold again so ready for another few days in the sunshine state. Can get some pretty good prices outbound via MCO and inbound via JFK so thinking about adding a night in the Big Apple before we return.

Looking for some hotel accommodation in New York, pretty central, price not too much of an issue and with some relatively easy links to JFK.

Any ideas?

many thanks

David

We are going in November for 5 days but really it depends if you want corporate or boutique style.

We are staying at the Cassa which was booked direct, we also looked at the NYC trip advisor forum and were stuck between Refinery, Kimpton and a couple of IHG (via their friends and family offer) before we opted for Cassa. When are you going?

The London in midtown is my favourite, but pricey ii)

Hyatt next to grand central has a good central location and with its proximity to grand central you can get anywhere with ease (staying there myself in December),
One UN on the east river receives rave reviews from tinuks and blacky1 - would imagine some of the views over into Brooklyn and Queens would be amazing at daybreak,
Milennium Hilton downtown have rude front desk staff, but the views over the Hudson into Jersey are unparalleled and the rest of the staff make up for the front desk of people that obviously hate life and other people (will be staying there in November)

To be honest David there are plenty, have a gander and let us know any you are drawn to.

My sister has just come back from NY and recommends the Mave hotel. Just off Madison square.

Our favourite NYC hotels are :

Grand Hyatt - very handy for Grand Central station & the Airport bus stops fairly close.

UN Plaza - the views from the rooms are stunning (ask for room with view of Empire State or Chrysler Buildings.) Also great friendly staff.

Westin on 42nd (formerly Helmsley) is also very good - has free Wi-Fi in reception, useful for OLCI.

As Blacky1 says it's a hard task, normally look at Expedia and select one that's reasonably priced/on special offer.

Fantastic views from the Mandarin Oriental, don't even have to leave the building to have dinner at Per Se ;)

My favourite ny hotel has to be The Muse. It's a boutique hotel off Times Square. Amazing service and, at 5 every night there is a wine mingle for the guests.

We enjoyed our time at the New York Hilton on Avenue of the Americas. It's worth paying a little more for a room on the executive floor. Great views and a very reasonable free breakfast buffet in the exec. lounge as well as drinks throughout the day. Once booked keep checking the price as it may come down (ours did) and you can cancel and re-book easily.
We tried the Waldorf but were not impressed. Poor service and it had a rather overblown sense of it's own importance. We preferred the Hilton!
Enjoy NY, it's a great city.

Hotel 57 was quite nice (although a little hard to find!), very comfortable beds.

Sheraton was a bit spartan but had free wi-fi in reception.

Doubletree Metropolitan offered nice warm cookies on arrival!
