Not sure if this TR is going to be one of my best but I shall give it a go and see what happens eh?
Most of you know the events leading up to this trip so I won't go into that again only to say that mrs b wasn't the happiest she's ever been while I enjoyed another lovely time in NYC.
None of the excitement of the place has gone for me over the last year or so since my first ever visit and I just love to sit and watch the city go about its business while I sip the head of a beer ! :P
As always for all of us it's over too soon and it was time to come home to the welcome arms of mrs b B) and the kids .
I was looking forward to visiting the JFK CH as I had some making up to do after Saturdays very poor show at LHR CH and arrived very early at the terminal so early in fact that the checkin desks were not open ,I had already checked in but as I had a bit more in the hand luggage than on the way out I thought I better check it was ok to still take on which it was .
The pleasant lady also informed me that the CH wouldn't be open until 2.15 which was not too long away so no bother and off I trotted to go through the new security layout .
Glad I was able to use the first and business lane as the normal one was quite busy and not moving too quickly but unfortunately the two queues then merged into one at the metal detectors where I got stuck behind a family who struggled to remove from their pockets or take off all things metal ! :(!
Honestly it's not that difficult is it ? :?
Then they came up against that tricky procedure of standing in the body scanner .its pretty self explanitry isn't it with markings showing where to put your hands and feet and god only knows how the dad stood in it the wrong way and didn't understand from the hand signals the security guy was making that he needed to turn round ,ok he might not have understood much English but isn't the little sign you make with your finger going round in a circle universal ?
I burst out laughing at this point as the show unfolding in front of me was comical genius , don't think the guys family were amused but the tsa guy had a little smile on his face :o)
Despite the family's best efforts to keep me occupied until the CH opened I still had a bit of time on my hands so decided to buy one of the most expensive pints ( don't think they are even a pint are they ? ) in my life at a whopping 11 dollars and sit next to two chaps talking about a holiday one of them had had where he ended up very sick with projectile vomiting :$ so i decided to drink my not pint very quickly and go upto the CH that thankfully was now open y)
I was the first person in there ( another first after first on the plane on the outbound ) y)
And prob sat in every area before settling by the windows on the right as you walk in behind the brasserie .
Champers was flowing and the service in the CH was excellent at least on a par with LHR if not better , they seem genuinely pleased to have you in there and be of help and I witnessed one waitress cut up an elderly lady's burger for her as she was struggling with her knife and fork and sit down for a quick chat which I thought was nice of her .
Top food in there aswell ,soup, pie and cheese and biscuits washed down with a port .
Was starting to feel a bit inebriated and I thought it best to slow down abit so had a couple of cups of tea before boarding and just as I was gathering my belongings up noticed a tall chap talking to a couple of people who then shook his hand and off he went , didn't pay too much attention to it and he left the CH ,it was only when I boarded that I recognised the chap and realised I was going to be sitting next to him ( me in 16a him in 15a )
A few clues , eccentric ex us sportsman rather tall with a taste for women's clothes ):
A good flight followed my aim being to have a good sleep and not bother dining but after telling the cc this and having my bed made up had a change of heart as I felt I would be missing out and I don't like missing out so reversed my decision and cc reversed my bed and more food and drink were had .
Had the beef again and unfortunately it wasn't any better than a few days before, not sure what's happened but it used to better than that ,more cheese and biscuits with port followed and then I def was ready for bed and slept for about 3 1/2 hrs .
Had a bacon ?| roll and coffee when I woke up and we were soon making our descent into a very foggy heathrow .
Must also mention that I was constantly addressed by name which as we all know on here makes you feel just that little bit more special and appreciated so top marks there y)
All in all another good flight with the only blip being that pesky beef again !

My guess is Dennis Rodman. Thanks for the TR it was fun to read especially the bit about the guy in security. $11 for a beer? That's a bit steep.

Thanks for the TR y)

Sounds like another good flight and appropriate use of the JFK CH (only been there once but really enjoyed it).

I've still never been onboard with anyone of any greater fame than Big Brother n(

An enjoyable TR to end the "Blacky-gate" scandal y) Very impressive spot on board with D-Rod. Just contemplating boarding and will try to resist the beef due to your less than favourable reviews :$

Enjoy your social tonight...but not too much ):
