Well I've booked flights to LAX for New Years Eve and the plan was to head to Vegas and then back to Hawaii for a few days.
Mr DL has now said that he quite likes the idea of a visit to Palm Springs. I've never been, so need the collective opinion of those who frequent the place ( and I know a few here do :) ).
Will it be warm ( the reason for Hawaii was a bit of sun)?
What to do once there ?
Where to stay ?
Many thanks :) ,
DL

We made our first trip to PS last month, albeit a very short one night stop on the way to Vegas and after being initially unsure we both would like to return.

The weather should be very nice, and it really is a place to just relax. It has a very laid back vibe from what we saw, don't think there is anything 'to do' as such, well apart from enjoy a cocktail or three by the pool ;).

Sure some of the more regulars and experts will be able to give much better advice.

And the drive from LAX to Palm Springs passes here

Alternatively it is a short ride once you are settled in PS

Hello DL from Palm Springs, just leaving the pool to head to Tyler's for lunch, already been to Cabazon (two pairs of very nice Tod's boots thank you at two thirds off) and it's 92F today.

There are plenty here who can advise you if you do decide to spend a couple of nights here, not least me. There are all the chain hotels to think about but I'd recommend a smaller place, for character and the PS 'feel'. Palm Springs is the polar opposite of LV though, if you like that Vegas brashness don't expect it here!

Do visit y) .

Among our favourite of all places, along with Rhodes, San Diego and Las Vegas! Joshua Tree National Park is well worth a visit, less than an hour's drive. Aerial Tramway is great, views from top are amazing, lovely and cool up there in summer, snow up there in winter. Fab restaurants too. Uptown Design District packed full of shops selling lovely stuff that, if we won the lottery, we'd be shipping home :) Two hours from San Diego and three from LV - great location.

We went to the Palm Springs area in March this year to watch the BNP Tennis tournament at Indian Wells.

Spent 5 wonderful days staying at the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort at Rancho Mirage (one of several different neighbourhood areas which make up Palm Springs).

Getting around by car was so easy, even the main highway didn't seem very busy with traffic. We found plenty to do and we don't even play golf! but the resorts are fabulous.

One of the highlights of visiting the area was going to the Indians Canyons where we went on an "easy" :? trail walk.
Unfortunately, at present that area is closed due to heavy flood damage.

My final positive response about Palm Springs would be that we were so sad to leave this really nice area and head to Las Vegas ii) ii) .. never again!

If you do spend some time in PS I am sure you'll enjoy it.
