So my return TR after my 5-days vacation in Barbados. There wasn’t really much to the flight really so please don’t be bored. I almost didn’t write it, but I figured I might as well.

After 5 days of sea, sand and sun – let’s not forget the rum. It was time to leave Barbados. Thanks to VH, I’d done check in and chill out at 8:30AM and managed to change to 18A to avoid being head-butted by a reclining seat. I know it’s a night flight and most people except me will have their seats reclined.

So all that was left to do was have an early lunch and relax by the beach for a few more hours until pick up time. This sadly was spoiled by the rain (it was over quickly but I wasn’t in the mood to get off the couch) so I stayed on the patio and read the 1st Jack Reacher book on my iPad until it was time to go to the airport. When I got to the airport, I picked up my new boarding pass and lounge invite and made a rather zigzag beeline for the lounge which wasn’t half bad. It’s self service and not much to offer in the way of food and drinks but I liked the look of it and the sofas in the corner were really comfy. I just had a few biscuits and an Amber Ale as I’d had lunch in town earlier.

It wasn’t too long before the flight was called and I left the lounge at the first call. Priority boarding was in effect and soon enough, I was once again aboard Champagne Belle (seems to be the default aircraft for the 29 and 30).

We took off not too long after boarding and in seconds we were over the Atlantic Ocean. Drinks and pretzels were served shortly after take off, and about an hour into the flight, dinner was served. I can’t really recall the options but I opted for beef which in retrospect was a stupid choice as we were leaving a place where beef is not a particularly popular meal choice. The beef was tough and that put me off. The salmon starter was nice though. I wasn’t happy with the coconut cake thingy for desert. So most of my meal was left uneaten.

After dinner, the lights were dimmed. Knowing my inability to sleep if I’m not in UC, I prepped for an all-nighter and turned my attention to the IFE and watched Hansel & Gretel, Superman and a few TV programmes. I was wide awake when breakfast was served and opted for the Full English. :$ That is all I will say about it. We landed at LGW around 6AM and was on the Gatwick Express heading to Victoria by 6:45.

In summary, it was a good flight with friendly and attentive CC. If only the food wasn’t such a let down.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks for posting this TR - all TRs are worthwhile as it gives us all a perspective y) y)

VS are letting themselves down on the food front in PE n( Sure e ought served on nice china, but if quality is not there then it is all a bit of a waste.

With BA serving CW food in World Traveller + then folks will start to think they are being short changed
