Every other plane has the older suite which is preferred by most, the refits were only done on LGW 747's and they all still have the older suite. The a340 has Vera on demand but not touchscreen like the a330, given the choice id take the A340 everyday of the week In seats 10-11a which are available at the moment.

Edit: Those seats are my preference on the A340 others like 2-3-4 k I think but they were occupied on map

So the a330 don't have touchscreens? I would like to try the new suites but I am aiming to get a ec m fare and upgrade with miles so I wouldn't know what they would offer me so it's hard to say but I would prefer the newer style

The A330 is the Newer suite with touchscreen, the A340 and LHR 747's have the older suite with Video on demand but not touchscreen, VS3 is the newer suite on the 2nd and VS25 is the older suite, on the return The VS018 is also the newer suite.

All A330's at LHR have the new suite and video on demand.

EDIT

It's worth noting that Expertflyer and VS website contradict each other on the VS3 EF says it's an A333 (and shows seat map of A333) and VS website says it's an A346 so would be worth checking before deciding which flight based on aircraft type

Thanks for the info, on the Vs website where about will it tell me the airplane model? Is this on the booking area?

I would like to try a new plane design if I can why not try it out!

If you click on the flight number on the availability page it will tell you which type of Aircraft is planned to operate that flight!

The Majority who have flown in both types of suite seem to prefer the older variety, I personally have not flown on the new suite so can't offer a personal preference, but if you'd like to try the new one then why not? You have no choice on the way back the only available flight is the new suite, maybe try a different one each way?

That's not a bad idea trying them both out to be fair, I suppose it's personal preference for people and that way you can say you have tried both? I've been on the 747 design planes UC which I didn't mind
I will have to see how the booking goes

I need to ask for a little help.

Just spoke to the flying club team and they didn't have any returns for 7th only the 9th
So we tried the 4th-9th which he said came to £813pp including taxes.

Is there any way I could get it slightly cheaper or is that going to be the best deal?

He's put the tickets on hd until tomorrow so be good if we could find it cheaper?

Afraid it's a case of waiting too long and missing the G's on those original dates, availability over that whole period looks bad now that the original flights have been booked and you have the 4th to 9th on hold.

You are flying one way on a weekend on the new dates which adds £20 per person to an M Fare, not sure what the reason is for the other extra £20 pound increase.

I know I think I have learnt my lesson :( and yes I thought the weekend would add money on to the flight :( also I would have to pay £45 to transfer 3,000 air miles to take 60,000 from my account and 20,000 from the other half. :(. Do you think it is worth flying towards the end of January? Or would that price be the same?

It's unlikely to come down significantly although G availability should be better, particularly if you fly midweek which will be slightly cheaper.

Personally I would stick to the beginning of Jan. The sales will be on and the Christmas lights will still be up. By the end of Jan everything will be back to normal and it could be very, very cold. Not just British chilly, so bitingly and painfully cold you won't want to go out.

To be honest that M fare at £620 for the non weekend flights was the cheapest I have seen in a good couple of years, I flew the same route last Jan 10th till the 20th and including tax for upgrade it cost me £873 pp, SoI think even at the £813 that you are now being quoted it's pretty reasonable.

The fare isn't going to be any cheaper at the end of January except if you avoid the weekend which may save you £20 each, availability isn't great either for the M fare or G's

Also and this is the big reason bear in mind, the Super Bowl is being played in New York/New Jersey on Sunday the 2nd of Feb, and the 7-10 days leading up to that will be pretty crazy, I was looking at going to the SuperBowl myself but the hotel prices put me off, in some cases 3-4 times the regular nightly rate.

Thanks for your insights. Just a shame the guy I spoke to said I would have to pay an extra £45 to transfer 3,000 miles which makes it £835 per person. And he did say that the seat plan is wide open and only 2 people had pre assigned a seat.

If I do go ahead with the booking I was thinking of taking £1500 to NYC which makes it $2373. Would this be enough for the time I would be there?

And then it's booking a good hotel. I have found a few on trivago which ranged from £500-£560 :/ haha

I would say that £1500 would be plenty for 4 nights in New York, myself and my other half spent a little less than that over 4 nights in dec 2011,we ate out everyday at least once , we had booked and payed for a few things before we went, Dial 7 for instance and passes to go up the Empire State Building.

Hotel Wise I'm sure you'll get something pretty nice for that kind of price or a little extra

I think you'll be fine on that budget, but maybe you have more expensive taste than me! Lol

I think it worked out around $592 per day so I think it should be good! And no I don't have the expensive taste my other half seems to sometimes :O.

I've seen hotels like four points by Sheraton and one called yotel who's rooms were made by the same people as the UC seats.

I will book the empire and maybe the Statue of Liberty also.

On the Saturday do you know what plane style it is? I tried expert flyer and it says a 744? But I can't find that on the VS website?

Which flight is it on the sat ?

My other half also has more expensive taste!! Lol

I don't know either of those hotels myself but I'm sure I've heard of others who have stayed in Yotel, my personal Fav is the Westin a Times Square, great location, nice rooms and not crazy expensive at that time of year.

VS website says 744 on the VS045 going out and an A346 on The VS026 coming home.

The A zone is the place to be on the 747 same as the upper cabin on the LGW 747's seat 12 A&K are the equivalent to seats 6 A&K on the LGW plane which I believe you've flown in before?

Why? The VS45 is nearly always a 747 regardless of the day of the week.

It's probably fair to say it's not the best time to be landing at JFK but don't let that put you off , plenty of people on here have prob sailed through in minutes ,just not me !
