Just called to use mine from earlier this year.

PE to HKG is roughly £1,300 per person over Chinese New Year, with a view to buying two of those and then using my 80TP Upgrade to get G's in Upper (yes, it needs G availability).

So, while on the phone, I thought a bit harder... I remembered that companion fares can also be used to upgrade with the 80TP voucher. So, given it's CNY *maybe* the PE Companionable fare would be similar. It was. Just add on the £200 in "taxes" (cough/surcharges) for the companion.

The result? A total of £1,500, using the gold card renewal companion fare to add the second passenger, THEN use the 80TP reward to bump both to Upper.

So, for £1,500 I now have two people flying from HKG to Sydney in Upper Class. All-in.

Good for you! I can definitely see this can be a useful extra benefit for some people. Sadly my own one is going to expire unused at the end of 2013 unless somehow some UC/PE award inventory opens up for my DXB trip next May (currently on a split class booking, PE out, Y back). Checking twice a day, but as it's the half term week, I suspect fat chance!

Got to say that since getting my BA Gold comp, I'm getting very itchy feet, seeing the extra award inventory that pops up at that level. Let's see how my flight with them to ANU next easter goes... could end up doing the unthinkable and switch to the dark side!
