I learnt yesterday that I can use my miles to "buy" flights with the partner airlines. Hubby has a *big" birthday in March so off to Kuala Lumpur , Business class on Singapore Airlines. 120,000 + taxes each. Subject to confirmation from SA.

Sorry if its common knowledge but I hadn't read it here before so didn't know.

Very happy to be planning a trip again :D

Anyone would like to share Singapore airline stories ?? Good or bad obviously ??

The best of British luck trying to book SQ flights with VS miles.

There are lots of threads on here about the antiquated way of finding availability and then actually finding a flight with available seats - AFAIK - all suite flights are not available still.

Please keep us updated with any success you have. If you manage it, I may try again, after swearing I would never put myself through the pain again.

As Nick says...

Redemptions in Business Class and First Class on their A380, 777-300ER and A340-500 aircraft types are not available.....

see small print here

Which tends to write off most long haul routes... ?|

Good luck, but be warned before you get too excited...

OK, now planning on SQ and Malaysian saying no :( . So I'm trying to work out how to get to KL via VA other routes with Gs. And then getting connecting flights into KL

If anyone else wants to play , please feel free to join in :)

I want to leave London on 26/3/14 ( cant do any earlier)

Want to be in KL for the F1 fri/sat/sun.

At the latest I have to be at work in Bournemouth by 12pm on Wednesday 02/04 :D ( I have often landed and driven straight to work)

I hate sounding negative, but the idea of getting reward flights to ANY city for their F1 weekend would be remarkable, especially this close to the event.

I would have thought that even reasonably priced flights and hotel rooms would also be scarce.

I hope you prove me wrong, but I think a trip like that based around F1 would have to be done around the 330 day out mark, and even then would require a lot of luck. Airlines know they can gouge flight prices around big events because people will pay - F1 certainly fits into that category.

There are (were last night ) Gs to Shanghai, Mumbai and Delhi on those dates. I'm then hoping to the get a flight from one of these to KL. Hotel is already booked and at a very very reasonable rate . The Shangri-La for £100 a night on a GP weekend I thought was an ace price.

Qatar Airways have a 3 day sale on at the moment and we can fly to KL EC via Doha for less than £550 each. I just don't want to :o)

The SQ restriction may well be releaxed shortly (presuming VS keep SQ as a partner following the sale to DL). SQ are about to launch a new First Class and Business Class on their 77W's into LHR. Given that the new cabin will be slowly rolled out, it could be that the soon to be former business class (ie: what there is now) will become available for reward tickets. Then again it might not.

If I was you I would go with the QR sale. In fact I would do it ex CDG to save some real money.

Serena,
The QR sales is only on for a few more days, been looking myself some very tempting deals in business class. The aircraft look remarkable especially the 787. I personally would definitely grab one, the Doha terminal looks fantastic.

Would be worth holding on for while with VS miles if this likely (just an assumption I presume or wishful thinking?) SQ never came to the party when they owned half of VS, why the likelihood of changing... Not as if part of an alliance.....

Oh my brain hurts now. :(

Just so unsure weather to wait and see if we can get the SQ flights later on , book the QA business flights now while the sale is on or go via another route ?| ?|
