Hi there,

Not sure how I didn't notice but rather annoyingly I've booked flights with a 1:30 connection at JFK :| *

I'm flying on the VS3 on a Tuesday in March and hoping to board a B6 flight from T5 at 15.00. As their checkin closes 30 minutes before departure, that gives 60 minutes to deplane from row 50**, get through immigration, collect bags and arrive in T5.

Part of me still believes this just might be doable. I'm trying to find any official information on Quick Connect. My search revealed an older thread on this site but I'd love to hear any first hand experiences and just wanted to double check it's still in operation and no limitations other than the next flight departing within 3 hours.

Any help would be very much appreciated! I'm already tempted to bin the exit row seats and aim for row 41 and potentially upgrade to PE.

Many thanks,

Mike

* - I have made the same journey before and booked without realising we're on a 4 hour time difference.
** - providing the ac doesn't change.

Hi Mike,

Quick connect is still about. Just let them know on disembarking and you will get a printed voucher to use at the Quick Connect queue. No limitations other than stated.

Are you booked through on a single PNR? I also had no idea that the IATA for JetBlue was B6 - thank you google. |:)

Well the time diff between LHR and JFK would be 5 hours... Does this make the problem worse :0 :0 :0

Hi Joey,

No, that would make the problem disappear! Well, almost. On the dates I fly in March there's only 4 hours due to the clocks changing in the States on Mar 9th but not until Mar 30th in the UK. I can't believe I didn't notice but I'm so used to the arrival time being 12-12:30pm that I just didn't check.

Thanks for the info! Glad it's still in operation and will hopefully help me out, especially as I'm on two separate bookings. I've since read about Jet Blue's no show same day policy, and the extra fees don't seem too harsh. I'll give them a call from the sky should I be delayed on the VS3!

I'll post back in March with an update and whether it's possible to catch a flight within an hour and 30 minutes... Hmmm...

Huh, never noticed that before - just gone back through a fair few years worth of e-tickets too... I have never flown to the US in a March before either.. huh, again!! Guess I know what I'll be doing this coming March :P

Your miscalculation is fully understandable in my book, it is not something that I would have noticed at first reading either. Thanks for shinning a light on this for my upcoming March trip y)

Single PNR? If so, no need to worry about the complicated calculations of the Time Lords.. JetBlue will rebook you on the next available flight should you be held up by the CBP.

do you have checked luggage ? without I would say maybe with, very difficult......
to get from customs coming in to the jet blue check in takes 15-20 minutes with a very quick walk

if you check my TR from last June here http://baflyer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=212

you will see from picking up my bags at 2.48 I just made final check in at 3.08...however my bags JUST made the flight...and when I say just, I watched the last one being thrown on , the hold was closed back up (opened just for my bag) and we then started push back.

HOWEVER I was on the BA001 flight where you don't have to clear immigration or customs so your key issue will be how long clearing immi takes ...and we all know about that at JFK

incidentally in March I'm trying to do a similar thing with only 45 mins from deplaning to take off (no hold luggage though)

PS I do have a fallback plan though....a second flight booked for even later....I used Jet Blue miles for both so they only cost $2.50 each....if I make it the early one gets me home at a very nice time

1h 30m connection at JFK with checked bags to collect is very very tight IMO.

Best have a backup plan as JetBlue/ VS will have no obligation to help you out if you miss the flight.

I am afraid that it to close to comfort for me - I am all for a stress free flying experience. ;)

I agree. It was quite stressful but Quick Connect worked well at JFK. We even got to get off the plane first thanks to a brilliant cabin crew member. I've thanked them via the website... Unsure if that's against VS policy as we were off before PE and UC passengers. I didn't add that to our thank you note just in case!

I forget how awful economy on VS can be especially if the folks in front recline. The JetBlue flight was so much better and was at least able to rest a laptop on the tray table. It's made me upradge the return!

Not at all! I've been rushed off flights from several airlines ahead of everyone else when delays have cut severely into connecting times. After all, airlines don't really want the hassle of rebooking etc. if they can possibly help it. On occasion passengers have been moved up to cabins near the disembarking door for landing to facilitate this.
