FlyingCo taxes?

I had a LHR->SFO return booked in K. Flew the outbound then got my PA to call FlyingCo about upgrading from K to G on the return leg. Availability there so that's good.

However they said they wanted £250 in taxes / fees difference. Looking at the difference between normal K fees for the return leg ($231.50) and Upper ($454.50) surely this should be nearer £130?

Also the fact that they've actually charged an additional £285 to my credit card, I'm guessing there's some random person blindfolded throwing darts into the 'how much are we going to charge them' dartboard

Does this include a change fee perhaps?

evanspa1 -- I agree with your numbers -- it looks far too high. Is it worth checking that they haven't switched you to an S fare and then upgraded you? This would be a mistake as it's a FlyingCo fare. I don't think it can be this as the amount would surely be higher, but I'm strugging to think of other possible explanations.

If he's staying on the same flight, this wouldn't (shouldn't!) apply.

K class isn't an upgradeable fare (although perhaps FlyingCo muddies the waters) so I would hazard a guess that there's an upgrade to a flexible fare somewhere.

K fare is an upgradeable fare bucket for the use of FlyingCo miles Sealink.

No idea on the extra charges evanspa1 .... perhaps something to give FlyingCo a call or email about. Would be interested to hear the answer if you pursue one.... my bet is on accidental overcharge

Are you sure Joey? Reading the info on the fare codes it clearly states not upgrade able with miles, and also that some changes can be made for a fee. I think it more likely the OP has been charged to upgrade to an S fare and then the extra taxes involved.

FlyingCo and Flying Club are two different reward programs. FlyingCo is a business partnership program that gives business travellers the chance to earn miles travelled for their businesses as well as themselves.

The rules are slightly different between the fare codes depending on FlyingCo or Flying Club spending, as well as allowing spends on a few other perks that ordinary flying club miles won't buy.

I can understand the confusion though, check out the VS website's corporate section for a rundown of the published perks and let me know if you get lost, will do my best to answer. ii)

Joey is right. As I said upthread, maybe they switched the fare to an S, but this would be a mistake. But I'm not convinced this is the explanation - the numbers don't look right.

That's exactly what I meant -- I think that might have happened. However, I would expect the difference up to an S fare to be more than the OP was charged, so I am not 100% sure that is the explanation.
