Well the good news is that AUs get to use the NZ lounge if they're flying on the VS 24 :D
No horrid AF or Maple lounge, just the pleasantness that the NZ lounge always is ( all other UC passengers don't have a choice though).
Just having a nice glass of kiwi vino :D .

Huh, there was me thinking that AUs could only use the departure lounges that UC pax had access to. Will make sure to head to the NZ lounge when I next find my way to LAX - cheers for the tip y)

Enjoy the lounge and hope you have an awesome flight DL

The check in chap ( and not the surly one I usually seem to get) said it's a lesser publicised perk.
No complaints from me on that one :D .
I'm not sure if you're Stateside at the mo joey but if you're not you're a real night owl :0 lol.

So, if you hold a full J fare and are not Au you get the horrid AF or AC lounge, but if you're Au you get the Koru Club, seems the VS situation at LAX gets whackier by the week!

Flying on the VS24 on 8th Feb, we had to use the AF lounge which is very poor compared to ANZ lounge. We are both Au and despite asking still didnt get invited into ANZ lounge. Was told Aus only get to use it if there is space. To be fair there was an ANZ flight in at the same time so it appeared to be very busy in their lounge.

Another one of the famous VS inconsistencies. The reason that VS started using the AF lounge for the 24 was due to NZ altering one of their flight times so it was even busier in the lounge than before ( and it was busy even then !).
There was only one other passenger I recognised once on board from the lounge and I assumed he was AU too- FWIW the NZ lounge was rammed ( probably the busiest I've ever seen) but did thin out a bit after the first AKL flight was called (which leaves about 15 mins before the 24).

But one that is completely out of their control.

Without opening their own Clubhouse at LAX - which, for now at least, they can't because there's no space - they have to rely on other airlines. And if those other airlines say "sorry, we're full" there's not a lot they can do about it.

We can only hope VS take over the NZ lounge when NZ move to the TBIT later this year. I'm not holding out much hope though ...

FYI just after I had posted another ANZ flight arrived which explains the lack of space even more
There are interesting changes to UC menu card presentation I will post seperately when I can upload images.
