Tier Points going to Silver

Hi all,

Quick question I am going to be hitting 16 tier points in December this year.

However my tier points I earnt on last years LAS rtn trip will expire at the end of December this year.

My main question is once you have hit enough tier points for silver and go up to silver do you have to maintain the 15 tier points throughout your silver tier or is it just you have to ensure you obtain 15 tier points within the year to be able to keep silver status?

Once you hit silver your points reset to 0 you then need 15 more points in a year period to renew your status next year.

It's the latter -- you become silver and your membership year starts, and during it you need to earn an additional 15 TPs to stay silver.

If you are going for gold, though, TPs earned before your membership year can still count -- you just need to get to 40 in any rolling period.

excellent thank you both, it's the first time I will be reaching silver since I first started flying VS in 2008 so am a little excited to be changing from red to silver.

Ignore the dates on your ag membership card, log into your flying club account, click on "your account" which automatically opens account summary, near bottom of page you will see "Tier points towards silver renewal" --- this shows exact amount of tier points required and by what date to renew silver, additionally below this it shows points required to reach gold with a date window that you can manually adjust to see what month your points drop off towards the gold [40] points requirement

Really want to go to NYC later in the year so as to take advantage of silver but might be a bit ambitious as want to go to Japan again really soon
