New York please help!

Hi,
I have a few questions about planning a trip to New York. ?|

I am planning on going to New York next year and would like to know how I go about getting the best deal.

I don't mind which airport I fly into as I'll hopefully get transfers booked.

1. Which are the best flights to get bearing in mind I am diabetic and don't really want to play havoc with the timings of my injections to much. I have previously flown on VS1 but have noted from previous posts that the time is changing from 16:00 to around 9:30am.

2.Also where is the best place to stay. I previously stayed at the Pennsylvania. I would like to be near the centre of New York!

All help very much appreciated. I am thinking of booking trough virgin holidays as a package.

I've booked a couple of trips through VH and found them to be competitive although on other trips I've gone with other companies like last minute .com because they were cheaper ,I guess it's all about having a good look ,I've stayed in a few different hotels in NY my favourites of which were ONE UN (west tower) and Westin times sq .
Flight times like hotels are down to personal preference my favorite being the VS1 or one of the later ones but this is only because I like to spend a good few hrs in the CH .

If you find a quote for a hotel online for example through Expedia, lastminute etc. It is always worth contacting the hotel directly to see if they can pricematch or beat the quote if you book through them directly. I know plenty of people who have gotten a great deal doing this or been given free upgrades etc. Take advantage of the famous US customer service!

y) This is good advice -- it's invariably better to have booked direct, I find. If they see the word expedia on your account then in my experience any chance of an upgrade vanishes all too rapidly!

Do remember though that Expedia will price match any other company (including themselves i.e. if they offer the same hotel room cheaper after you have booked, they will refund you the difference after making a claim).

It's actually very easy to claim a price match with them as well. I did it twice with the same hotel booking last year.
