I feel like I should know the answers to these, but I'm not sure so I seek advice from the experts here!

1. If you travel on a DL codeshare operated by VS, and you are AU, can you access the Clubhouse?

2. If you travel on a DL operated flight from LHR, and you are AU, can you access their T4 lounge?

Thanks very much. :)

Hmm

Done some research and still not sure about 1.

2 seems ambiguous. One page says you only have access to US lounges. Another says you can access SkyClubs on the day of your transatlantic sector. Is T4 a SkyClub?

ISTBC but I'm pretty sure if you're flying on VS metal and you're AU you can use the Clubhouse.

Surely it doesn't matter who sold you the ticket.

Thanks gumshoe. That's what I assume too but sometimes common sense doesn't seem to prevail.

Can anyone else help?

I am particularly confused about whether or not you get any lounge access at JFK on the return journey.

The joint venture doesn't seem very joint. DL top-status pax get CH access... VS AUs get to pick a slightly better seat in economy. :?

Not much help but what I can say is that I saw some Delta pax in this BOS CH last night who were booked on the VS12. I would guess that if they were on Delta Metal they would be in the Delta lounge(????)
I have also been given access to the Delta lounge, which I think is a SKY Lounge, at LGA even tho my transatlantic sector back on VS metal was not for a week later.
Other times my transatlantic sector has been within 24 hours (just) at JFK and I was told I was not allowed to enter the lounge.
So yes, confusing indeed.

Sorry at240, not done an internal US on DL yet... maybe in late Feb.

Logically I take it that VS AU pax on VS metal are going to be able to sneak into the CH regardless of travel class without a problem - that's my take on q.1..

As for q.2, we must not forget that complimentary lounge access is only given to the DL Diamond members (probably will equate to UNIQ level)... the other status tiers only have the opportunity to buy membership to the SkyLounge club at a discount. Based on the above I would think the answer to be no.. sorry about that mate.

Perhaps in the fullness of time, VS AUs and (poss even AGs) will be invited to join the SkyLounge Club for a discounted rate too.. They do have a 49% stake in a healthy deficit to cover after all :P

Addendum to my post above -

From the DL website
Exclusive Clubhouse Access
Complimentary access to the award-winning and luxurious Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses* for BusinessElite® or Upper Class passengers and Diamond or Platinum Medallion® members traveling on Delta- or Virgin Atlantic-operated transatlantic flights

*Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses are located at London Heathrow, London Gatwick, New York-JFK, Newark, Washington, Boston and San Francisco Airports.

Looks like 'select' DL FFs are restricted to the above clubhouses when flying transatlantic only. Not as open for DL FFs as people think... :D

Thanks for the replies -- I appreciate the help.

However I am still not clear about the second point. Perhaps I should have phrased it differently --

if you fly in DL economy as a VS AU, do you get access to the lounge in LHR T4 outbound and the DL lounge in JFK on the return?

Does anyone know this?

If what they post is true then in this circumstance, yes you will get SkyLounge access at both LHR and JFK

From the VS AU benefits page:

Access to any of Delta's Sky Clubs (must have a transatlantic sector to/from the UK on the same day within the itinerary, when travelling in Economy Class)

Sorry I misunderstood your previous post and thought you were doing US internals without the transatlantic on the same booking. I'll collect my coat and leave :P

Ha ha no worries Joey -- thanks.

The reason I worded q2 differently originally is because I don't think LHR is a SkyClub -- I think it is a SkyTeam lounge and I think that's different but am not sure. The DL website certainly doesn't fill me with hope.

I think I'm right in saying that you can use the DL SkyClub at T4 JFK on the return leg, if VS AU.

But as ever would be interested to hear from anyone who has managed it. :)
