Hello!

Haven't been around these parts in a little while but I wanted to ask...

Is it still possible to pay for entry to the Clubhouse when you're not travelling in Upper Class? I did it once a few years ago when I was travelling Premium and really enjoyed it. I think it was about £70 or so back then...

Anyway, apologies if this has been asked recently.

Thanks!

It is possible, but only if it's not busy and never guaranteed. Price is £60 I think.

Anecdotal evidence from other V-Flyers suggests pay-as-you-goers are often denied entry. But others have been lucky, and this is normally a quiet time of year so it's worth a try - ask at Clubhouse reception rather than check in as you'll normally get a no there.

Hi Quietstorm87

Never say never ;) ........

but smile if you're refused entry on this occasion, you never know when you might ask again.

Do hope you're successful, let us know in your TR!

This year flying PE from Gatwick.
I've booked No1 lounge.
I'd rather know I have a guaranteed place than go to the Clubhouse on the off chance I'll get in then have to pay at the door for No1 if refused.
It's £45 for two of us pre-booked. £55 if you pay at the door.
I'll report how it compares after the trip.

i've used the no.1 lounge at LGW south a few times...

it's modern and bright, though nowhere close to the LGW CH, staff are usually friendly, view from the windows, good wifi

there's a limited buffet and other food/drink included with admission, if you pay extra there's a bit more to choose from - i've not tried that (if i'm not on VS i usually go to the cafe rouge for a meal, imho it's quite good there)

alcohol is bar service, if the staff are busy it can be slow, espresso was from the bar too

when it first opened it was always fairly relaxed, but now it gets too crowded/cramped at times, especially if groups have reserved the comfy sofas, luckily i've got a priority pass so it's free admission, if too busy i turn around and go to the old servisair for some peace and quiet!

overall it's a pleasant enough place to relax, the section upstairs is cosier if you want a bit more peace

the biggest downside is...

the bubbly isn't free :0
