Hi,

I'm flying to MCO within the next few days. Before I have been offered a cheap upgrade by VS from Economy to PE(well not cheap but < £200) within this timeframe.

However, have heard nothing this time. Anyone know if this is still something they do?

Thanks V-Flyers!

A lot will depend on how full the flights are, if Y is full and W not so, then they will try and up sell some pax before departure to save them having to do op-ups etc. If the flight is open in both cabins, then there is no real benefit, so you are less likely to be offered a cheap upgrade.

On the my booking part of Virgin web the upgrade price seems to be going up with time rather than down.
It has vanished altogether from my outbound and gone up from £899 to £2990 for the return.

I was due to fly LGW-MCO on a miles plus money economy ticket.
A couple of days before the flight I received a courtesy call from Virgin just asking if everything was ok with my booking.

At the end of the call I casually asked if I could upgrade to PE with miles thinking that as I was on a class 'O' ticket, this would not be possible.

However after a minute on hold, the agent came back and said that I could do Y-PE for £104.00 plus 12500 miles - which I gratefully accepted.

In the end I was unable to make the flight due to illness, but the miles have been already been credited back to my FC account and I am in the process of sorting out a refund for the flight.

As I always say, anything is possible - nothing is set in stone.
