Hi,

What are you all using for US car hire at the moment? I've been using usrentacar for a few years, but it occurs to me that maybe there are now more competitive sites - any thoughts please?

Thanks!

Try Hertz Gold (free to join) and means no queuing when collecting your car. I've used it for last 3 MCO trips so good. Also there is a sale on at the moment at Hertz.

We used usrentacar and went with Sixt in Orlando last year. Best rate by far and their Luxury cars are Mercedes C250s. 15 days hire , with all the insurance was £382. Sixt are off site at MCO, but this was no inconvenience, a quick shuttle trip was well worth the money saving and the better vehicle selection.
We'll use them both again.

I booked Alamo through Virgin to get the points.
I found them to be very polite and helpful, but then I'm a sucker for upgrades.

A tip I just got from my son. Even if you haven't paid for Satnav you may well find a car within your allocated lot that has one so check before you chose.

Did you choose sixt via usrentacar or go directly to sixt?

Cat,
Went via usrentacar online, really liked the filter facility which allows you to compare the same type of car across a range of suppliers.
It's what drew my attention to Sixt, £100 cheaper than any other supplier in the Luxury bracket.
Always used Alamo before but the Merc was too tempting!
And we stayed overnight at MCO so picking the car up the following morning was easy and quiet. In fact, we were the only pax on the mini van shuttle in both directions.
Hope this helps!
Craig.

Thanks Craig. We've used usrentacar the last few times and liked that we could link tour express card and avoid the lines. But his time, we're also overnighting in Orlando, so as you mention, I imagine lines will be much shorter that directly off a flight. Will definitely explore this!

Last year we did an overnight in the Hyatt at MCO then picked up the car in the morning. No queue at all.

We loved the airport Hyatt. It had so much space. Our room was very good. Only downside for us was no teabags. They only had fancy flavoured teas or coffee.

In the morning I went down and sorted the car before we checked out.
