Thank you 8D

Those 300s worry me a little, do you know why they are changing over to the 600s, which is good, or how likely that it will actually be a 300, which is bad, |:) ?

No idea i'm afraid - but do know that the 300's are meant to start being withdrawn this year (finally!) so perhaps may be something to do with it!

Cheers :)

If anyone else knows more about the schedule please let me know.

Otherwise I will wait and see with baited breath.

Would the choice of aircraft on this route have more to do with loads, and try and use the bigger aircraft on a more popular route?

But apart from that, nothing - they're perfectly good planes.

In this age of the tablet I'm surprised so many people still consider IFE and its limited selection of not-very-current TV & films so important.

I'm keeping an eye on things too Michael, and at present MMB says it will be a 346 on 9th May when I fly out. I'm more interested from the point of view of seeing what a bigger UC cabin is like. Flew on a 343 to/from YVR last year, which was great. IFE was rubbish, and on my return flight the screen had a big crack in it.

Still, I had an iPad full of stuff I like, namely True Blood latest season and Big Bang Theory and plenty to read. :)

Well its the one time in my life I will fly UC and I would rather it not be on a lesser plane. I don't have a tablet so IFE is all I have for twelve hours :-)

I think that may will be a 346 as I think they run during the summer BST season
If you are unlucky enough to get a 343 with REEL as I was on my last NRT - LHR run in UC they gave out galaxy tabs preloaded with movies so it wasn't so bad.

Apart from the IFE there is hardly any difference between the 2 planes. The bar is in a slightly different area, but the seats and config are almost the same. I agree with Gumshoe that IFE is no longer as important as it was.

Does anyone have an accurate seat map for the 330? Or suggestion aa to recommended seats in UC on a 330?

Does the 330 have a snooze area?

There is no snooze zone on the A330.

As for the best seats, avoid the middle seats (D/G) as they are a few inches shorter than the window seats (A/K).

Most people seem to prefer mid-cabin although one row, 9 I think, has no windows so if that's an issue avoid it.

EDIT: did you actually mean the 330? Or the A340-300, which is a totally separate aircraft (and the one they currently use on the Tokyo route)?

If you mean the A340-300, the snooze zone is the last three rows. Best seats are 3, 4 and 5K near the front.

The tablet we were given from YVR last year was about a year out of date for movies.

I understand the statement that in the days of tablets, but few of our tablets are loaded up with the equivalent latest movies, unless you've been seriously torrenting beforehand and not everybody is capable or wants to, do this :)

Our tablet on NRT to LHR had the same movies that were on IFE
but yes you are right as not everyone has a tablet.
I used my iPhone though with a movie and a TV comedy series
The rest of the time I used the old fashioned IFE called reading material, actual paper based lol

I meant the 300 :-) Proof that I both need and appreciate your help :-)
