Sandals Barbados Closing From 1st April To December 2014 for refubishment. We have a booking for 6th May 2014 but as yet have not been informed by our travel agent Sandals UK. We read the news yesterday via Facebook and another v-flyer who also has a booking . Anyone booked between the closing dates can transfer to the other Sandals resorts with the exception of Grenada or Emerald Bay ( According to the Facebook page. ). We telephoned Sandals this morning to be told nothing was in place yet to rebook anyone. Our flights were with Virgin so we would still like to fly with them. Just thought I would let you know in case anyone esle has made a booking and not been informed of the closure.

Sandals Antigua is very nice, and still do-able with virgin. It is not nice to be in your position at this late stage but it often works out for the better!
Been to Antigua twice and Barbados four times -IMHO Antigua is better unless you want designer shopping
Good Luck.

That's happened to us at Beaches a Turks last year, this year We qualified for the free 7. nights so we decided on a choice of the new Barbados or Grenada. Fortunately we chose Grenada although we are flying with BA in first as it was cheaper than VS UC.

I can also recommend Antigua although St Lucia grande us also excellent.

This came up on the FT BA forum yesterday. The OP on that thread was offered other properties on Barbados with a proportional refund of the difference between them and Sandals - they went for The Club (previously the Almond adults only resort). Admittedly that was a TA booking...

We are still waiting to hear official from Sandals UK. They didn't even ask for a name or booking ref. when we telephoned this morning. We have stayed at The Club a few years ago when it was The Almond and wouldn't want to go back it has a very small beach area. Luckily we can be very flexible with our dates.

airconbob and PaulS we have been to both Sandals Antigua and St Lucia and they would be our first alternative choice.

A happy outcome at last received an email this morning from Sandals. They have transferred us to The Grande St Lucian on the same date at no extra charge plus two No 1 lounge vouchers, which we don't really need, we will have access to the CH with my husband's gold card, but a nice touch all the same.

Can anyone tell me what category of room they were offered with the change of destination versus the category they had originally booked at Sandals Barbados, in other words was it roughly the same category or was it in effect an upgrade. Also were you able to tell Sandals which resort you wanted to go to, or did they offer certain resorts to you. As of yet we have not heard from Sandals despite emailing them, should I wait for them to contact us or should we phone them as they are not responding to emails.

They offered us either Antigua or St. Lucia and we said we were happy with either Sandals Antigua or The Grand St. Lucian. They went away to check flights and availability and booked us into The Grand St. Lucian - Lovers Lagoon Honeymoon Premium which is pretty much the basic room (we only booked the basic room in Barbados because as Sandals Select Diamond members we always get upgraded on property). You should phone them - We got no response from our email but good response from telephoning direct on 0800742742.
