I've got nearly 50,000 UA rewards that are going to expire in august (because they won't credit me with the aer lingus flights I took in december). Never mind I thought, I'll just use them for a nice night away in a hotel. After navigating their awful website and finally finding a place I'd like to stay (and after having to close and reopen my browser numerous times ): ) it turns out I can't actually do this as I don't live in the US :| :|

Is there any way round this??

Always

It will allow you to transfer into other loyalty programs - including hotels. There are links on how to register through the UA mileage plus rewards pages..

Cheers Joey, unfortunately it doesn't look like UA allow you to trade/exchange miles using points.com. I can sign up and see my miles but that's as much as they allow :(

Have you added another partner program to the points.com account (i.e the one you want to transfer in to)? The other options should open up then.

The United site is very confusing and as it turns out misleading (second column, fifth option down!!) if you have and it is still showing you unable to 'transfer and exchange miles' n(

Incidentally T&C number 1 on the spend site I linked to..
1 Available to residents of the US only.
Ha... the rest of the world only seems to exist as 'Unknown area' and 'Here be dragons..' on the United map :o)

We thought the VS site was bad!!! Some of these links are ridiculous (page missing errors and, if in doubt, a straight redirect to the US homepage to book flights!!)

Would you like to simply keep your account active? If so, donate a few miles to charity (500min)? Buy minimum amount ($75)? Apply for the united credit card (free)? Should buy you another 18months..
