Hi,

i have searched the forum and found alot of the information to be very helpful.

I do have one question which i couldnt find the answer to and was hoping somebody might be able to help.

Im looking to spend 100k miles on an UC ticket to LAS. I also have an extra 50k miles which i would like to use on the companion ticket. is this possible to do from one flying club account? Cant see anything on virgin atlantic that says you cant.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Stephen

Very little is possible on the VS website when it comes to reward flights! You need to phone up.

Companion tickets only works with full fare cash tickets in UC (J)

As Hamster says you can only use a companion ticket in conjunction with a full fare UC ticket which will be very, very expensive.

I would suggest the second person uses those 50k miles to upgrade to UC from an 'M' class economy fare.

Remember there must be 'G' reward seat availability for both of you on both legs. That may be hard to come by, particularly on the US-UK leg, unless your dates are very flexible.

Straight up reward fares can be booked no probs on the VS website (assuming availability). Upgrades and companions are a diff story ii) - a phone call will be required.

As gumshoe touches upon it will be tricky to get two UC reward seats to and from LAS given there are only 14 UC seats on the planes that fly the route and it is a popular one. Not impossible though, especially if your dates are flexible, but do have a look at routing through NYC, SFO or LAX to increase your chances.

I've just taken a look at the table on the VS FC site regarding the fare classes that can be combined with a companion ticket... unsurprisingly it is wrong n( In addition to the Economy fares listed (Y,B,R,L) you can use a companion ticket (or upgrade) in conjunction with U and M fares.. The UC fares eligible also omit that on certain routes (BOM, LOS) if transiting through LHR or LGW to the USA you can use a companion ticket in conjunction with a D fare.

Awesome. thanks for your help.

Checking the virgin website again its 100k for a return trip so i presume it would be 50k one way?

Do virgin allow you to do UC one way then PE the return or vice versa?

What would you do if you had 150k miles, for two adults. More than happy to go into LAX but not SFO and return from LAS.

Again, thank you for the help. Most appreciated.

If you've got a bit of time have a look at getting a credit card and earning the missing miles - several options out there but I'm doing:

Virgin black AMEX with MBNA - 25,000 miles when you spend £2k in 3m, with 2 miles per £ spent on the card

AMEX Platinum - 35,000 miles when you spend £2k in 3m (this card has a £450 fee :0 but apparently can be cancelled in-year for a pro rata refund once the £2k is spent)

Various other ways to boost your earning, headforpoints.com has been a goldmine of information for me.

Maybe look at booking 2 M class economy fares and upgrading to upper each way, would be 100k for 2 people to upgrade a return trip to LAX, still requires reward availability in UC
