i tend to choose a 'special' meal on BA as i'm almost always in EC and find it usually gets me a much tastier meal, also they seem to serve the specials first! - the 'asian veg' option can be pretty good

i've never tried this on VS, but am quite disapointed by the UC meals these days (last week a very dry piece of beef and bland overall, followed by rubber cheese, stale sandwiches on the previous trip) so i'm wondering...

does anyone have any favourite options to choose from the VS list that could be worth trying next time?

I don't have experience of special meals in any cabin, but I would always go for the chicken in UC. Whilst I've had a few odd-tasting sandwiches, they haven't been stale.

I always have cheese and it's been great every time it's been served.

I always have a special meal (gluten free) and on my only experience of Upper Class, returning from PVG 3 years ago , it was the same meal that I would have had in PE, except the crew had served it on a plate, with UC cutlery and an apology from the crew that it didn't look very good, but I was delighted to be eating something that I sure was safe for the first time in a week!

More recently I find that more often than not, specials meals are served at the same time as everyone else, which I prefer, as I feel awkward eating long before my travelling companions gets fed.

Our last experience in UC was certainly "special"

Yes that is one leaf of spinach...

Later on Mrs NH tried to avoid gluten on a main, but the presented main dish was enclosed in Pastry..

I seem to recall someone saying that pre-ordered special meals are exactly the same whichever class you're flying - they're just served differently.
