I've planned an UC trip to LA via JFK in May. Outward isn't a problem but return looks more challenging.

Get kicked out of my hotel room in LA at midday and then 12 hours to wait for a Virgin America flight to JFK arriving 8 am. Then, more than 12 hours to wait for VS flight back to LHR. I was planning on visiting NYC during the layover but would prefer to shower and bag drop before doing so.

Problem is, I won't be able to use the VA CH showers because I would have to go through security. Any ideas where I can grab a decent shower at JFK so that I don't subject Manhattan to my Pepe Le Pew aroma? Or should I just wait till I get back to JFK in the early evening and ask for the full sandblast?

Personally I would try to get an earlier flight and get a hotel room in NY for the night and have the next morning to see NY

I was torn between doing that and using the overnight flight to sleep. In the end it came down to a coin toss without too much thought going to the consequences.

I could get a day room somewhere at JFK I suppose and then go into Manhattan. I've had a look and I'm really surprised that JFK doesn't have public showers for a small fee.

look for a gym, ymca etc. in the area you want to visit, should be able to find one that'll do a day pass for a reasonable price, might even get a freebie

all together now... y-m-c-a :)

Hmm that's interesting. I wonder if there's a decent gym near the airport?

Thanks.
