Does anyone remember Virgin naming an A340 Claudia Nine or is my mind playing tricks >

Yes, G-VOGE was called Claudia Nine for a while. I think it was something to do with Claudia Schiffer, I remember seeing a promo shot of her in the arms of SRB doing his classic wing walk!

Received an email today from VS and I see a competition has been launched to name one of the 787s.....

It was G-VSHY as this was the first A346 delivered to any airline - and there was a big press conference in the hangar at LHR.

A few months later, the Claudia Nine sticker was removed to reveal Madame Butterfly.

Does VS's naming policy contravene the Equality Act?

I love G-VROS = English Rose first ever Virgin aircraft that I flew on and flew her again recently and still as amazing as ever and then there is G-VLIP = Hot Lips which was the second Virgin aircraft I flew on and I have to say both of them are great

Technically not, I would imagine. All vessels are classed as women. Thus 'God bless her and all who sail/fly her'.
