Flying Club Card

Ive noticed that a few times people have mentioned having an actual "flying Club Card", when I joined the flying club I only ever got an email with my details on (membership number etc).

How do you get an actual card?

Reason I'm asking is that we have a car rented in May and somebody had posted that if you show you flying club card you get extra miles? and I do like getting extra miles...

You usually get your card pack once you have taken your first flight.
You do get miles for car rentals, you can just give them your FC number and that will work also.

My adult kids got their cards following their first flight.

Thats great thankyou. Our 1st flight (with our flying club membership) will be the florida trip, so will I just be able to give them my membership number and get the miles?

As long as you quote your membership number you should get the miles - enjoy!

Most rental car companies have a place to add your flying club details on your booking, if you log onto your booking with whichever companies you booked with I expect you'll find a place to enter your details

Also note that if you are fortunate enough (sad enough?) to make it to Gold status the lounge ask to physically produce the card prior to lounge access....apparently this has been the policy for the last 12 months (even though your details are on the access system and you have checked in with your FC 009 number)

Sad????? ): I prefer the adjective loyal.. or committable (as in some actions taken to renew AU are def committable)

In regards to the lounge asking for your card... if you do forget it and are not travelling in UC they will call FC to confirm. It may take a few valuable minutes from your bar time though, so my advice would be to always pack it just in case.

I can go with committable, if you fly everywhere economy economy (like I do) I can assure you it is sad, 1/2 the tier points means that I must fly 20 trans Atlantic flights a year to renew Gold - that is SAD! (or committable - depends upon your viewpoint)...

Don't forget that some of the economy fares give you 3 points per flight without plaything that much more for them.
Plus if you are in the USA that much it might be worth taking a couple of short flights with DL in F class (not as expensive as you may think) and get 3 points per flight.
For example LAX-SFO is only about $200 and gives you 3 points.

Sorry to be thick but I am not an employee of any airline so I have no idea what an F class fare is.

However I did a quick search on flexible dates for the LAX-SFO roue your suggested though and found nothing below $450 (return). it is a mute point though as I am running out of Boston and only go where the work takes me.

I am seriously considering moving to Delta though as I can then use miles for upgrades with them and they will status match.

Assuming you already have had a red card, the Silver pack will be sent out once you have reached the required TP's. It is usually a few weeks after by the time you actually receive it.
