Advance seat reservations - important for who?

It's realllly important I get my cherished 19A every time, so I also set a reminder in my calendar and then an alarm on the day to grab my seats ASAP like others here.. )

Personally I think the new VA seat reservation system should be better than the old one at least we can reserve our favourite seats when we book. I presume the same "VA reserve the right to change seating" applies?

But someone else may already have bagged your favourite(s) up to a year in advance - no longer will you be able to sit fingers poised at T-60, hoping you're "first there".

Might be different 19As - on the LGW 747s it's a PE seat but on the LHR 747s it's in UC.

Both, though, are V-Flyer favourites!

Same applies to T-90, T-60 or T-30 though, so there's no perfectly fair system (other than a random allocation at check-in - but imagine the complaints that would cause!)

Most products and services tend to be first come first served though, so T-336 is probably as fair as it's ever going to get.

True, but I guess most people book their holidays maybe 7-8 months beforehand. Something like 6 months before might be a bit fairer as a good amount of people will have booked by then.

I'm with the "it matters to me team" . I have seats that I feel much more comfortable in than others and I always hope to get them.

I think it't more that most people choose seats because they are offered at booking. It's interesting that people have not gotten back into their bookings to reserve seats once available with the T30/T60 change but I am wondering what that will look like when they do check in and discover they are sat somewhere they don't want to be. Me and the OH have different last names, so try to stay on top of our seats as we have been split up many times (but rarely with VS actually -possibly a result of FF status but possibly they do check the booking!) which is just not a plus.

Reserving seats is a big part of feeling comfortable in anticipating a seat--I absolutely hate the scrum on flights where you are lined up in pods and then thrown to the wolves. If it is to be a pleasant trip, then knowing that you can arrive in a timely way but not anxiously hoping it's In Time to get a good seat, check in, get through security and be relaxed about boarding. Be a real shame when that's a premium with VS as well and to me, the antithesis of its personalized appeal.

I booked our seats this morning as soon as it became available. I just checked now and 24 other seats have also been booked of the ones available in economy. I was surprised by that, I thought it would have been slower uptake unless there;s just a lot of eager beavers like me on my flight.

Mind you I guess VS3 is probably one of the most popular LHR - JFK flights.

39 days till our flight to BOS and still only 4 seats reserved in upper. There are only four seats reserved in PE for our return from EWR in about 53 days. Maybe VS11 to BOS is not one of the busier routes. flightstats still shows 9's accross the board pretty much

By the look of it, it appears that more people in Y are concerned with reserving seats than other cabins, just the class that VA are targetting to pay for such a service!

Probably true, I would be much more eager to secure a prefered seat in Y.

It makes sense though really. If you get the pick of the 'worst seats' and within that lot are some seriously undesirable seats, you will be more eager to secure a good one than if you know you are getting a quality seat wherever you sit providing window seats aren't important to you.

Plus I guess there's the psychological thing of having more passengers in economy so it feels like there's more competition.

Sooooo - the seat map is available for myself (VS003 on 2nd March) however cannot select a seat for another 30 mins I think - grrrrr...

Im in PE for this flight (with row 18 blocked out) any advise? I know 19 has not windows - so that's a no go too.... Only a small PE area so a little worried, but we shall see where I end up!

I would have thought so - but on the VS website it shows the 340-600... I am not sure this will be what we fly on, any advise?

An A346 is just an abbreviation for an A340-600 ,I've gone for 22 A and C when I come back from NYC in a few weeks , there is a toilet behind but as you say its a small cabin and I don't think it's too bothersome ,the best bit is guilt free reclining

Good call - I am on there now and will try for those seats with the request at the gate for 18's...

If not then 20 is my preferred location. I know some are saying its not important, but I really do enjoy this stuff - however when it works it helps and the confusion has driven me up the wall...

Is it just me or do others wonder if they have got the 'best seat' or is this just a myth and most are the same..? Also - there have been no other visible seat allocations in PE so I am the first..! Nabbed the seats right at the back of PE - so no issues on full recline all the way to NYC

I saw on a video that 18's had some kind of portable footrest you could get and that seemed awesome - but who knows.

Got my seats, roll on the next 59 days and ill be in the VS CH due to getting a pass of Virgin Hols..! Yippee - first time ever!

Does anyone now - do these seats recline fully, wife thinks because there is a WC behind it they wont - ?|
