I'm not a regular Virgin flyer and have never flown UC before so this is a bit of a once in blue moon situation for me.

Seat map for my UC trip in May just became available and I have a split opinion about which seat to grab. I'm flying alone.

12A/K - A bit close to the person opposite, but no traffic going past and tucked away.

19A/K - Lots of space, quite private but close to the galley (smells, noise etc)

The out will be VS45 and the return will be VS10, so obviously sleep on the way back is also a factor.

I have already assigned 19K going out, based on advice here, but someone I know who flies staff friend and family swears by 12A/K every time.

I personally wouldn't do 12A/K unless you know the person that will be opposite you. As a couple they are perfect, but too close otherwise.

I would also personally not go for 19 on the way back (good choice for outbound) and would choose something like 14/15. The foot traffic is very minimal in the cabin anyway so that shouldn't be an issue wherever you choose.

I wouldn't do row 12 alone. I'd go for 15/16. I know why people like 19 (and have tried it) but personally I prefer to be a bit further into the cabin.

I agree with Neil and at240. 12A / K are great for couples, not great for the solo traveller, as you are literally playing footsie with the person opposite. I did it once and would avoid it in the future.

I really wouldn't worry too much about it.

Unless you've a real aversion to having people on both sides of you, there's no such thing as a bad seat in the nose section of the 747s. It's a very private cabin.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll stick with 19 going out and get 15 or 16 back.

Have a great time. We went in November and it was fantastic. Look forward to the TR.

Thanks. I'm only staying in New York for 2 days. Flying on to LA, but I'm definitely going to do a TR when I get back.
