Hi folks,

I managed to grab a good UC fare to Washington in the recent sale so I'm off on my hols in a mere 100 days time.

I'm now toying with visiting NY again maybe in September and wondering what the experts on here think would be a decent UC price, assuming there's another sale sometime in the next 6 months?

Thanks,

Martin

I was having a look around for late October (half term) and a VS1/VS18 combo can be had for just over £1500.....

Admittedly EWR both ways and a day flight back, but still...

I haven't seen a sale fare to JFK for £1.5k in years, the past few times I've been it's been creeping closer to the £2K mark, my trip late last April was £2.1K in the sale. Only paid it because it was my 40th Birthday trip.

There have been £1500 fares over the past few years. There was one sale in the summer two (?) years ago when the price was a good deal better than that.

I'd say that £1500-1600 is a reasonable sale price these days. Anything better than that is good. £1700-1800 is less tempting.

£2000 to NYC is just too much, in my view. The premium you are paying could be spent on so many other things when you actually get there!

It displays the anomalies of airline ticket. If I want to fly with BA to JFK the sale orice us circa £1.6k but if I book the same flight but end the journey at MCO the addition of a first class AA flight brings the price down by over £200

Last October I bought LHR-JFK for £1471 UC return on VS45/VS10 in the sale, for travel at the end of that month. Great value.

I'd agree with this.

To be frank, IMO the LHR - NYC flight is so (relatively) short that I think PE is absolutely fine particularly if you're on a day flight back to LHR. Plus it's usually about 50% cheaper.

This would be particularly so if I had a Gold card as PE with Clubhouse access would just the ticket.

Understand that the night flights home would probably change it in favour of UC.

For reference in the current UC mini-sale NYC is £1,693 for flights in April.

JFK was one of the few places to feature at the 1K UC return price, outside the very rare christmas 1K matches to BA, but its been at least 3 years since that has happened.
