Hi All, Flying again in June, its our second time, we had a small disaster the last time as in no kids meal (didn't know we had to book it) so my son had a 12 hour flight to Vegas with crisps and peanuts as he is a bit of a picky eater, he also never got his back pack so he was a bit annoyed when he saw the other kids in Orlando with them, how ever I'm more clued in for this flight, my question is there are 3 of us flying, I have around 11,500 points, not sure about hubby, could we get an upgrade to PE ? can we request seats in the bubble, any tips an making this flight a more happy experience? TIA :D

To upgrade to PE will cost 12,500 miles each, plus your existing economy booking must be in an upgradable fare bucket.

That means you can't upgrade with miles if you've bought the cheapest economy fares I'm afraid. If you booked online, you'll need to have selected "flexible" rather than "lowest".

As for seat selection, yes you should be able to request seats in the bubble but when you can do that depends on when you booked.

Assuming you stay in economy, if you booked BEFORE Dec 16 2013 you can request seats from April 1st but if you booked AFTER then, you'll have to wait until 60 days befor your flight.

If you do upgrade, you'll be able to select seats from April 1st irrespective of the date you booked.

As for making it a happier experience, the key to travelling with kids is preparation. If they're fussy eaters, never rely on airline food - pack your own or buy snacks before you board. The choice on board is limited and the most popular meals do run out. And ask about kids' backpacks before you board, while you're waiting at the gate. Once on board it may be too late.

Hope that helps.
