I think I like it.

The only thing that I feel might be a problem is that in the first minute or so of the video there's a lot of movements between scenes and a lot of changing colours which slightly distracts from what you're hearing as you are trying to concentrate on the picture, but the rest of it is paced well.

I like it. All the salient points are clear, it's fun and holds attention. As has been said, 6 minutes of your life that could save your life is not that bad.

I'm unsure - used to the old one and wonder if it's got longevity, but it is Virgin leading the way at being different.

Not a good first impression.... n(

Too many scene changes, you get lost working out what's going on and miss the message. I have to fly with two elderly people who have flown once in 50 years soon and this won't make them feel like they know what to do. I'll be sure to give them the safety card......

I also didn't feel any attachment to the character in the film, which I did in the old film.

Try watching it without sound and pretending you are an infrequent flyer. Not to pretend you are deaf or the pa sound is too low again ii) but imagine your main language is not English and there are no subtitles for you. What exactly do you learn? Oh yeah, life jackets are under the sofa in the bar? :)

That is just awful! I can imagine this becoming very irritating for FFs...

This is exactly what I was thinking too.

I'm in the unsure camp.

I'm not sure Iike it either. Very like the BA video but in a glitzed up Virgin way. Detracts slightly from what it should be about.

On a slight side note, interesting to say that the aircraft shot at the start of the video is a Dreamliner.

Way, way, way too long. My son (aged 13) is a very nervous flyer, at least until we are in the air. This six minute video about what to do when it goes wrong is going to make him worse. Make is short and too the point and the whole thing could be done in a minute. Its safety not entertainment.

?| Just about every airline's safety videos are around this length, I presume because they all have to get the same set of information across.

I'm intrigued though by the idea of setting someone the challenge of a sub 60 second offering. A challenge for some media studies course perhaps. As long as it isn't simply "adopt the brace position, stretch a little further and kiss your a*se goodbye"....

A little too close to the truth for most serious incidents.

Seriously though, when I fly on planes with no videos the recorded message and the demonstration by the crew does not take 6 minutes. The message is important but is could be done as a short serious couple of minutes not pad it out to this length just to appear trendy.

Obviously it's not practical but the Southwest rapping FA got it clear and concise in about a minute!

Fair point. There must be other ways too, call and response maybe? A version of the old times table (Gove would approve)? You would have to have the right stuff to pull it off though.

As ColKent says, EasyJet don't take 6 minutes, but I suppose there's an assumption that once people have a video screen in front of them it's the only way to get them to absorb information...

And because I couldn't post it earlier for those of you who haven't seen it. This is how you deliver the safety brief in an engaging way. Not everyone's cup of tea admittedly.

As I understand it he also does a longer version of this including seatbelts, oxygen masks and not smoking, but it's not in this video for some reason.

Gets your interest right at the start which is good, then it gradually walks you in to mind numingly bored. Prefer the old one.

Not sure if the new video has been loaded yet as was on VS003 today and still had the old video.

Not too sure - personally I will miss the funny bits on the old video (high heels - in the mysterious voice!)...

For many this will be a welcome break from the old. Personally I think I took in more than any other safety video so I guess it works.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a copy online of the even earlier Virgin safety video that was voiced by Leslie Philips?

Found myself more engrossed in trying to work out the film references. As a safety video I thought it was poor, as a previous poster pointed out it could be confusing to a non a English speaker. Having said that as a FF I find that I hardly ever watch the safety video, however I do pay attention when the briefing us performed manually by the crew, as the embarrassment of the stare from the cabin crew for not paying attention always makes me feel guilty ): ):
