First of all, try the Virgin Clubhouse. Entry isn't guaranteed, but if it's not too busy they'll sometimes let you in - I think it's about £45 or £50 at LGW.

Failing that try the No.1 lounge at the far end of the main departures lounge, upstairs next to Frankie & Benny's. It's no Clubhouse but for a shared lounge it's pretty good with a decent bar and selection of snacks, plus great views of the runway. It does get very busy though, particularly in the mornings.

There is also a Servisair lounge which would come a distant third ...

Another vote for No1 Lounge.

Do book in advance as space can be limited in the mornings and you can even pre book a glass of champagne for them if you are so inclined.

BTW when are they travelling, as you could find a Lounge invite on the Forum here

Dumb question , can you try your luck to get in free to the Virgin Clubhouse? Ever happen any one? Any tips to gain entry, sore for being a bit cheeky, kills me to pay because I literally grew up in Shannon Airport, my dad was a senior mechanic and got us in every where when we were kids !!

The only way to get in free is with an AU card or an Upper class ticket or as a guest of an upper/au passenger on the same flight ):

To be perfectly honest, when I was last in the Gatwick Clubhouse - back in November - I witnessed a fair few people being turned away.

I was chatting to the shoe shine man (his station is right by the entrance) and had to chuckle at some of the ruses trying to be used :D

As David says, the guaranteed way is to gain access is to be one of the categories he mentions.

Pays to put your trips on the V Flyer Itinerary Calendar with the hope that some kind person is travelling on the same flight.

Another vote for the no.1 (or the V-room if you have booked with VH.)

I think no1 lounge looks good, dumb question but it's south terminal right?

No1 Lounges can be found in both the North and South Terminals - make sure you book the one in the South

No1 South Terminal Upstairs.
Has some very comfy couches to sit on.
We did a mid morning flight from there last month and found it worth the money.

Thanks Buns ! Think I'm sorted for an upgrade to pie, my friendly bar man an family are heading to USA with Delta in May and he said he'd sign up to get miles and gift them to me !! So the lounge can wait for a while !! We were only short a thousand each, so I'm chuffed !!
