That's not unusual. Sometimes, reading V-Flyer would have you believe there's an almighty scramble to select seats at T-60 but I suspect the truth is very few do. It'll gradually fill up over the next few weeks.

I noticed this with our VS27 flight, there are a couple more seats gone now but still 5 middle rows of 4 not reserved in PE.. nothing left in the bubble however. I dont mind I got 19A/C, the seats I wanted....Then I have to be ready to do it all again on Tuesday/Wednesday for my return seats, hopefully going to try for the bubble.....fingers crossed...

Maybe, but I'll still be there with fingers poised next Friday for our return flight seats! :)

Reserved my home-ward bound seats this morning, we got 24H/K in the bubble.....

I know some people have said that the bubble "isnt what it used to be".... but we havent flown in there before so I thought we would give it a go....

There were only 6 seats in the bubble showing available, so not sure if some have been held back, or every one was quicker than me this morning ):

BitI'm happy with my choice - lets hope no "operational reasons" get in my way ii) ii)

They MUST be being held back as that is what was showing when the seat map became available but before you could reserve your seat.

Iirc Virgin Holidays has a block of seats on the upper deck held off for their customers, usually the A & C ones.

From what I have found online, VS holds back a few rows of seats from Online Allocation even at T-60 for "Airport Control"...

On the 747 LGW layout these are:

Premium Economy
Row 14 - Lower
Rows 20/21 - Bubble

Economy
Row 25 - Lower (Exit Row)
Row 38 - Lower (Exit Row)
Rows 39-41 - Lower (Extra Leg Room Rows)
Row 75 - Bubble

Although I did notice when allocating my seats at T-60 that a number of seats were unavailable already in the bubble. Either somebody is real quick, or they were held back.

They do indeed hold back plenty of seats. There is a particular point when these become available, but even then there are still some that are allocated at the airport...

Only 6 available in the bubble today when I got my seats. Was the same last year aswell.
Did get row 20 on the way back at olci last year though. Will try same again this year.
