Delta are adding a seven day a week service to Chicago from 26 October, neatly just after VS's seasonal route stops ... I wonder if this means sayonara to ORD for VS once more? If so, is that going to be a further reduction in flying or will VS open up a new route?

I don't think it will be the end of VS service to ORD. It is just right sizing the aircraft for winter operations to maintain a year round service. I am sure VS will pick it up again for the summer season on the larger 330 or 789.

Interesting to note the DL flight numbers will match the VS service. DL39/40 VS 39/40.

Yes you're right, it seems DL does something similar with AF and they will operate on a 767 over the winter. The idea being a smaller aircraft for reduced demand but retain year round corporate business.
