Hi All,

I was coming back on the VS401 the other week from DXB in Economy after having flown out UC. Travelling with Mrs C and my parents. Taking them on a little surprise "MILES UPGRADE" trip outbound. Being a FF on both "Big" and "Little" Red, I am pretty use to getting very little AU recognition in the air.

This flight however, did seem like all my previous EC flights had been saved up!! Full marks to the crew, they were soooooo accomodating and attentive that it was almost becoming embarrassing. The male FSS P*** was excellent. Not long after pushback, a couple of glasses of fizz arrived after a name check. Then he returned to see if we wanted to move to the extra legroom seats. I mentioned there were four of us, and this was no problem. Sadly, once moved, the IFE kept sticking. A few reboots didnt help either. It seemed to be the section on the right for about 8 rows. The supervisor in EC seemed genuinely worried he had moved us to seats that had faulty IFE. We all got the compo miles vouchers and even the offer of some cheese and biscuits as an apology. Then before leaving, i was handed a bottle of fizz. It was quite overwhelming to be recognised and genuinely treated in this way. These CC are a huge asset to VS.

It just shows you though, the whole experience came crashing down the second we got back to LHR. We landed early and tried to move to the earlier LR to ABZ. I had booked the domestics with miles and I know as I have done this before, that miles flights can be moved FOC. The ticket desk assistant was clearly on the phone to her mate when we arrived at the desk. I was perfectly polite yet her attitude stank. She called the office and they wanted £85 each to move. I pointed out that they were points flights and should be able to be moved free. (something i've never understood tbh!) I just got a snap back that it was "almost full" which we found out after our 6 hour wait, it was as usual half empty! Such a shame. Amazing experience on an otherwise incredibly turbulent flight even for me! and then one bad egg....

Ah well,

Top Markas for the FSM and Crew y) y)

Reading your account mirrors my own recent experience and goes to show that when the FSM is on the ball, then you do feel valued. Sadly, that is something we all cannot be certain of before we book a flight.

I'm not particularly bothered about recognition but it is curious that there doesn't seem to be any consistency whatsoever. Either it's part of the routine or it isn't - it surely shouldn't be down to the benevolence of the particular crew.

Regretfully there seems to be no consistency, recent flight out on the 43, not one visit or mention from any of the crew. Coming back from JFK ground crew exceptional but no effort from the FSM, steward very good post nap however. Reception at both clubhouses was excellent. All one would ask is a few seconds of time from the FSM to say Hi and welcome back. AU this year but won't be next one which is a shame as I'll miss several of the benefits.
