There was a group of ten of us travelling to Las Vegas for my husband's 40th birthday. All travelling Upper Class and looking forward to it very much! We stayed overnight at the Hilton Hotel at the South Terminal. I THINK I got a good rate of £89 per room including a bottle of questionable red wine. Served it's purpose anyway and we were ready to check in in good time on our travelling day!
We met at 7.45am in Reception and made our way to the Upper Class check in desk. This is the first time in 14 years we have flown Virgin from Gatwick (usually fly from Manchester or Heathrow) and it is very bright and new looking. Check in staff were OK. Not exactly overly enthusiastic but 10 of us turning up at the same time may have put them off a little!

Check in was quick and we were given our express sticker to go through security. (I must say I have a little smile every time I get a little Virgin Security sticker stuck on the back of my passport- is that just me??!!)
Once through security we made our way upstairs to the Virgin lounge. Greeted absolutely delightfully by two lovely ladies who were keen to show us round. They were so nice and cheery and we made to feel very welcome. The lounge was very busy. They did explain that they were about to call a couple of flights and then it would empty a little and sure enough it did. We found towards the back there was plenty of room though and we were settled in with our first glass of champagne for day!
Treatments were easily booked in with the beauticians. I think about 6 out of ten us wanted something and booked with no problem. The food (mostly English Breakfasts)were served quickly. Service was excellent and they regularly took drink orders. We were VERY well looked after. Hard to compare this lounge with the Heathrow one. It is so much smaller but have absolutely no complaints.
THEN... we were called to the plane.. first call then final call almost straight away

Welcomed very nicely and the cabin crew and settled in for our flight. The seat looked in good nick except for a couple of bits of wear and tear. LOVE the champagne glasses and we all enjoyed lots of photos and smiling!! (lots of our group never flown Upper Class before!)
Off we set and our orders were taken in good time. Food was very nice. I chose the Crab Timbale and the Beef Fillet. Was served hot and well presented..no complaints. Come dessert I was offered the two choices or cheese and biscuits

After gathering around the Upper Class bar for a while I then settled down for another film and afternoon tea. Served on the trolley and very well presented and all fresh and delicious!
Not before too long we were coming into land.(sit on the right hand side of the aircraft for the strip view as you land) A very fast and excellent flight and a wonderful experience. What made my day is that on landing the opened the door between upper and premium for disembarkation!

Off we all got in good time. Very happy. Virgin have done it again! Another excellent flight!
