I've got a trip to JFK planned next year, currently we are connecting from MAN and will land at LHR about three hours before the 1600 take off to New York. Am wondering about changing this to the earlier little red flight but this would land about 8am. Is that too early to be allowed into the clubhouse?
I usually get there for 7am, even if my flight is not till mid afternoon.
Never too early to get in the CH
You can never be too early (well... 655am perhaps ) ... Enjoy every moment!
I was there on one occasion a 9am for a 4pm flight because of my inbound connection. There was a guy already in there who had arrived on a flight from JFK who was flying out that night to JNB!
It's never too early unless you arrive before 0700
Last year I went straight from a night shift at work to LHR and arrived at 0800 for the 2230 departure to SYD ):
I did have a day bed booked in the No1 lounge next door for a four hour nap at 1200 though.

I'm hoping you can see the consensus here.

Now that's a good idea... knew this amex platinum would come in handy y)
Cheers guys, if it was just the two of us I'd definitely be taking the earlier flight but we'll have my 8 year old too so don't want him getting too bored before getting on a 7 hour flight... decisions decisions

I've never been delayed more than 25mins on the half a dozen or so VLR flights I've done MAN>LHR but do remember anything could potentially happen to delay flights. It only takes a missing pax or weather at either end and it all goes belly up!
The domestic to international VS transfer system at LHR is super quick though. From getting off the arriving aircraft at T1 to international airside departures in T3 usually takes around 15minutes.

Unfortunately the Priority Pass does not cover the Day Beds they are an additional £20 per hour ][|)
Just to be contrary, I think there is actually a point beyond which the Clubhouse gets a bit boring. I've done 6 hours and I admit I was bored by the end of it.
Have to agree with at240 .... Did 6 hours also between flights and spent a lot of time roaming the rest of T3 ! Not so bad if with someone but not so good on own !
Syd flight last summer ...
