Looking to go to Florida from Manchester, 4th March 15, preferably on a 747, could anyone advise me which flight to choose. Is one a 747 and the other an A330?

Thanks for any help.

I would go for the early flight out and late flight back. (Sorry don't know numbers always fly from LGW/LHR)
As Neil says they are both 747's as all MAN flights are now on the jumbo as far as I recall.

It used to be that the 75 was the A330 and the 73 the 747 - if they combined then it could be either a/c operating either flight - but now it is only 747's ex MAN.

The later flight is better for the outbound in my opinion as it means you don't have to have a really early start, you arrive at MCO at a good time, can get to your accommodation and not have to try and stay awake for ages either. It certainly helps get in to the time difference better.

Do bear in mind immigration at Orlando. If thinks run pretty much on time, the VS75 should be the first long-haul arrival, so the immigration queues should be bearable.

This is a look at todays international arrivals into Airside 4 at Orlando;
VS75 (MAN) Sched 15:00 Expected 15:17
MT168 (BHX) Sched 15:20 Expected 15:20
VS27 (LGW) Sched 15:25 Expected 17:54
VS71 (GLA) Sched 15:40 Expected 17:56
BA2037 (LGW) Sched 16:05 Expected 16:05
VS73 (MAN) Sched 17:45 Expected 18:01
LH464 (FRA) Sched 17:50 Expected 17:50
BA2039 (LGW) Sched 18:35 Expected 18:35

So as you can see, today the VS75 may just make it in first. I don't fancy being the last person off the 2nd BA flight - 3 long haul arrivals in the space of 40mins (assuming those times stay the same).

At the end of the day, it is the luck of the draw on the day. That said, I have generally been lucky with the VS75 & short immigration queues.

Bit off topic; flying back from MCO last week we were approached at check-in and asked if would like to upgrade from PE to upper for $960 each, politely declined then was asked if we would like to do it for 12,000 miles. Nearly ripped her arm off! That was until she realised we were flying back to Gatwick and not Manchester. Could have cried. Flight was good anyway.

I'd definitely pick the 75 out as its usually the first to arrive so the best chance of a short wait at immigration. In my experience the 73 arrives usually a short time after the 15 from LGW and a few other international flights, so you often get held on the plane as the immigration hall is full! The other thing with the later arrival is that it often coincides with the late afternoon thunderstorm so you often end up waiting for your bags as the ground staff don't seem to be allowed out when there is lightning in the area.
