Morning all. I selected our seats yesterday for our UC flight to CUN in June. On the seat map not a single seat is showing as selected other than ours, does this seem the norm?,I would have thought that with around 8 weeks to the flight more seats would have been selected. ?|

You'd be surprised how many people actually don't select a seat in advance, and especially if booked through VH as a lot of CUN passengers will be!

Of the 4 odd return LGW flights I've booked, only the occasional one or two at the front are ever booked when I look. Those seem for some bizarre reason to have prestige (never been too bothered flying perpedicular to direction of travel myself). Otherwise full cabin. Apart from near the bar (or indeed avoiding the prestige seats), I don't think people are quite as bothered about which seat they are in, than they are in in economy.

On a recent MBJ flight back on a LHR a/c only the bubble and first 4 rows in the front were booked up 2 days before the flight and on the day of. The flight there were lots of persons called to counter most probably upgrades as the back cabin was full on the flight.

Thanks for the replies, I just found it strange that not a single seat on the a/c had been selected. As has been said it looks like a lack of interest.

Only in the cabin your flying in will it show any selected seats anyway , the other cabins will both be greyed out even if some seats have been selected

Obviously, no v-flyers, in UC, on the day you fly to CUN.

Personally, we do have favourite seats based on the aircraft, route and departure time; generally adjacent rather than opposite, not too close to the bar or lavatories, and not directly overlooked.

6 days 10 hours 21 minutes until VS200 on 22 April 2014.
6 days 3 hours 38 minutes until Afternoon Tea, with Champagne, in the LHR ClubHouse

Yes if you read V-Flyer you could be forgiven for thinking everyone's logged into their booking at 8am on T-60 ready to pounce.

But that simply isn't the case - only a very few of "those in the know" do that. Everyone else does it in dribs and drabs or - in most cases - at check-in.

Of course things may change from this summer when seat requests become available at time of booking again.

This will be our first trip in UC, having read TR's etc on here we decided that 6A&6K would be the best for us as a couple.

I am still assuming the bubble seats are being held back for OLCI as they have been unavaliable since seat selection was avaliable. So there I will be like he saddo I am, in the lobby of our NY hotel waiting for OLCI to open so I can try and nab the bubble.

Our A346 out there has no seats left at all with 2 weeks to go. I may have been the first person to select our seats on that one too....
