Does anyone have a link or info on getting a refund on a change of flight under sickness of close family? Does it matter what kind of fare you bought or is there a standard rule?
Won't be an issue to supply a letter/proof.

Depends on which fare bucket you're booked in. The cheaper the bucket, the more restricted it is in terms of changes/cancellation. The reason is pretty much irrelevant.

I'd call VS and ask as there's a myriad of different codes, all with different conditions. If your fare isn't refundable check your travel insurance.

Usually an airline will only refund due to death upon proof of a certificate.

Travel insurance should cover any other change/cancellation due to ill health etc.
