My dopey partner has just booked a stay at the crowne plaza lhr for our upcoming miami trip but instead of booking thro ihg and using our membership number he booked using booking.com! :(!
Will we loose the points or can we give our number when we check in?
I've checked online but can't find an answer so I'm hoping one of you guys might be able to tell me.
I can't believe he did this as only last night we discussed what we were doing!
Many thanks
Darren

Well I'm glad it's brightened your evening blacky! Lol
He has no idea! We need those points to get us closer to platinum...
We're not talking right now, he says I have an unhealthy obsession with collecting points!
I say, he just needs to listen!

Can you tweet them (or any social media) and say you had an 'issue' whilst booking (not a fib really) and you would like to add your rewards.

IMHO most companies relish the thought of an easy query being resolved in public view.

Most hotel loyalty programs don't give points for bookings made through 3rd party booking sites, and is usually in the T&C's if you have a look.

Most however still give associated elite tier benefits if your eligible.

Just one of those things I guess, and a good reminder if you want something some right do it yourself :)

Oh well, I'm only elite gold so would have only got an extra 10% in points and dedicated chick in...
I can't cancel the booking as it's a non refundable booking!
I'm very annoyed but need to get over it.

I should know better, one time he bought the wrong computer we had spent weeks deciding on!
Indeed! If I need something doing I do it myself in future.

Even if you don't get the points for the accommodation, it's still always worth handing your IHG card over at check-in as you will still earn points for other hotel charges (bar & restaurant bills etc)
