Just thought i would share this info that i recieved today from Premier for anyone interested (James & Artur, i gathered you might want to know!). I had been asking about plans for a CH in DXB (im off there in March).

Plans for a Dubai Clubhouse will depend on the success of our new route. We will introduce a shared lounge first of all. This would be owned either by the Airport Authority or by another airline. However I am unable to advise you which shared lounge this would be as we have not had a final agreement set up at this current time. This should be finalised in the coming months. Any further information will be updated on our Press Release section of our website, so watch this space. We look forward to welcoming you onboard again in March.

I hope that they do end up building a CH, (especially given the stiff competition on the DXB route) but anyone hazard a guess at who VS would lounge share with?

Sarah, it'll be interesting to see who they share with. I really like Dubai airport so hopefully whoever it is it'll be great:D

Perhaps Gulf Air (as they are a member of flying club)

for the GF website:

"Our premium lounges at Seeb International Airport and Dubai International Airport have been recently refurbished, and now boast convenient business facilities, shower cubicles and a buffet presentation of hot and cold meals/refreshments."

BA also have a lunge in Dubai, I doubt they would use this though!

The Gulf Air lounge is very nice. For some reason that we still don't understand, we were allowed to use it two or three years ago when we flew home. [8D]

We were in Y on Gulf Air and all we did was produce VS Silver cards at check in to make sure we got the FC points!

Lots of food and drink choices, huge TV screens and free internet access - not quite up to CH standards, but a LOT better than servisair et al.

From what I remember, it wasn't massive and I don't know if it could cope with a lot of extra people. I suppose it would depend how many Gulf Air flights are going out around the same time.

I think VS would really need their own lounge at DXB after a while, as the competetion, particularly EK, is stiff and the CH is one of the things VS prides itself on.

Unfortunately, VS won't be using the EK lounge - I hear that's one of the best!:)

As slinky said, VS could do worse and to start off with, it will be fine.
However, DXB is such a difficult route to launch as there's a lot of competition. EK and BA from DXB, QR from DOH, Gulf Air from Bahrain and Muscat and Etihad from Abu Dhabi. It's a difficult region to fly to as the airports are so close to each other and there's not a lot of feeder traffic.

Cheers,

The Emirates Lounge is lovely but it gets packed with Emirates flights let alone another airlines passengers.

Arrived in the lounge at 5am and by 6am it was heaving, no seating space left and people were sitting and lying down on the floor.

Having said that it is a great lounge with some great views and facilities. :)

You're doing that in a week!
Is it business or pleasure?

Pure pleasure... :D.

I have very little vacation time now that I live and work in the US, 3 weeks goes by quickly.. So one of these weeks needs to be a insane flying week.

The plan is also to be continiously be drunk on Champagne.

Sarah, I see the J cabin in filling up nicely for the VS400 on March 31st...several more pax and VS might even need an A346!!! (here's hoping anyway) :D
